Recently displaced women & children in Abiy Adi, Tembien. When asked where they came from, almost everyone of them tells that they have been displaced at least twice. Many are first from Western Tigray, then either from Dedebit, Sehraro, Shire, Aksum, Adwa, etc.
The Pretoria deal should not be weaponised to gain access to financial aid and grants, nor should it be misused to legitimise the genocide committed against Tigrayans.
Aid should reach all places with need without creating enclaves of urban aid centers, and denying rural areas.
Last Thursday, I had an extensive discussion on #Tigray and #Ethiopia with National Security Advisor @JakeSullivan46, who clearly has an extensive knowledge of this tragic conflict. [A Thread]

It has been a week since the so-called peace deal was signed in Pretoria.
But nothing has changed.
🔸No humanitarian aid has been allowed.
🔸all basic services are cut off.
🔸🇪🇷n forces are killing & raping innocent civilians in Tigray.

The barbaric #Eritrean soldiers are still inside the territory of #Tigray doing what they are best at - the mass killing of innocent civilians, weaponized rape, destroying basic infrastructures, and looting of properties. (1/2)
General Birhanu Jula of Ethiopia says," we are not capable of requesting the withdrawal of Eritrean forces from #Tigray because 80% of #Ethiopia|n military equipment is in #Eritrea. The failure of Ethiopia goes beyond treason of sovereignty. So what? 😼
Instead of seeing the “peace deal” for the disaster it is, some Tigrayans are creating fictitious scenarios to make themselves feel better.
The truth is:
1. Eritrea continues to massacre civilians
2. There’s no sign of humanitarian aid
3. Addis-Asmara war pact remains intact.
Tigray In Need of 'Massive Assistance' Now! - @WHO
"The People in #Tigray need immediate, massive, overwhelming assistance now, not "drip-drip" assistance… in both food and health, not only that, massive assistance of goods and commodities but also the free movement of staff."
"Heavy fighting taking place in Zalambessa and Edaga Arbi. The war there is mainly waged by EDF (Eritrean Defense Forces). They either want to break the CoHA and conquer new territories or want to plunder, rape and commit atrocities."

Dori Asgedom, the leader of #ADP,has been languishing in prison without due process for ~2 yrs for simply opposing the #Eritrean invasion & the genocidal campaign in #Tigray. #FreeDori & other Tigrayan political prisoners. 17K+ Tigrayan #ENDF members also remain detained.
