@gobrownsgocats@maggiesfarm76@AndyStaples The reality is that much of the power conference realignment and consolidation was a result of Texas' actions. Nebraska and Texas A&M both left because of Texas.
@Genetics56 The two autobids wouldn't have started for the Big 12 until next year when the SEC moves to a 9-game conference slate. Let's wait and see how that affects ranking all these mid-SEC teams when the conference has another 8 losses.
@jpapiern@Genetics56 If you do 3-6 and 4-5 and 5 and 6 win, then 3 and 4 can still get into CFP as at large picks at the expense of teams from other conferences who are ranked above 5 and 6. That's why conferences not named SEC and B1G should oppose any auto bids other than conference champions.
@GoldenBearRx@Genetics56 Teams should earn a CFP spot on the playing field during the current season, not based on how the conference performed over a five-year period.
@GoldenBearRx@Genetics56 Because of the portal, there is significant turnover from one seasonto the next. You cannot assume a conference will have the same number of strong teams one year to the next. The whole premise of AQs is stupid. Why play the games? Earn it on the field!
@Genetics56 Why should the Big 12, ACC, or G6 have to play extra games for access? Straight seeding 1-16, 2-15 etc. is the only fair way. B1G and SEC champs shouldn't get multiple byes.
@Genetics56 You can't say that. If OSU loses to PSU, their CFP ranking and opponents change. You can think the Buckeyes still win it all, but that's why they play the games. We'll never know for sure.
@Genetics56 While your facts may be correct, you fail to grasp the bigger issue. Most fans don't want 3 or 4 loss teams, even bluebloods, in the playoffs. Teams need to earn their way in, not be awarded slots before the season begins. And I'm a B1G fan!
@Genetics56 Wrong. The season IS the playoffs. No conference should get more than one auto bid. Teams should earn it. And, I don't care about a B1G/SEC scheduling agreement allowing teams with "quality" losses (something the SEC did for years) into the playoffs. It's not the NFL!
