Some of us clinicians were there at the crossroads, begging institutions not to commit to the finance-based transaction systems pretending to be "electronic health records" on offer at the time. We were overruled and characterized as fuddy-duddies for not embracing the future.

#EHR- Perhaps the worst wrong turn in the history of medicine. Imagine >90% of highly intelligent, highly trained professionals (physicians/surgeons in the trenches) deeply dissatisfied & frustrated (see research/article below) with the technology they must use all day, every day to care for patients/YOU! And ZERO change on the horizon to improve the disaster.

The unmet promises and expectations of #EHR are significant and unacceptable. And sadly, I see absolutely no progress towards any significant improvement. Healthcare is the only industry where technology has made everyday life (for the most part) worse for those in the trenches.

Such unbelievable potential to transform healthcare. And, to date, an absolute disaster. An absolute Schlimmbesserung (a German word that means-> an intended improvement that actually makes things worse).

EHR has positively changed & enriched the lives of many. Unfortunately I'm not referring to patients & physicians.

The average 5 year old has better technology in their pockets than docs in exam room.

#Healthcare is the only business I can think of where #technology has made it harder, less efficient, more expensive and has made everyday life (for the most part) worse for those in the trenches. It's what bad tech does.

We nurses have been, and continue to be, easy to bully, divide and conquer. I believe that, if we whistleblowers stay our individual courses and continue reaching out to each other, we're going to reach a critical mass of allies. I hope it's soon.

As a whistleblower, I once believed that my mission was to expose corruption and malpractice in hospitals and government, and that those who claimed to be fighting alongside me were trustworthy allies. However, the past few years have shattered that belief, as I discovered that many of these supposed allies have been exploiting people and their loved ones for their own selfish gain, using the guise of truth and justice to further their own agendas.

My journey has been fraught with challenges, and I have faced moments of deep disappointment and betrayal. When I've confronted these individuals and organizations privately (I always do and I keep the receipts), I've often been met with silence or, worse yet, attempts to undermine my efforts. This experience has taught me the importance of being constantly vigilant and discerning in all of my interactions. It has also revealed the true complexity and treachery of the fight for truth and justice.

Just so you know, I do have concrete evidence to support everything that I share. As much as I don’t like writing posts like this, I have a bigger issue with people knowingly taking advantage of desperate individuals and/or families - and they know I know who they are.

I’ve felt disconnected from trusting people, social media, news, etc… for a long time. This has led me on a journey to figure out what's real and what's not. It's been brutally tough, but I know that telling the truth, no matter the outcome, is always the right path to take.

It has now crippled physicians and is considered a main factor in physician burnout. So my fear is that we go down this same path with #Healthcare #AI and it is designed for the wrong purpose & masters, and not putting patient care & physicians needs first.
