FWIW - We're having a novel celebration for nurses, by nurses on May 11, during Nurses Week. Nominate a colleague, mentor, family member - any awesome nurse, then come to the party to celebrate! More info and registration: https://t.co/XkDYGefXmi
I've always felt that calculated "eligible voters" counts were a little too fuzzy, so here's what the REGISTERED voters did re voting for presidrent in 2024.
While I applaud the efforts of the reconstituted @23andMe company, they're not connecting the dots with early adopters who've been contributing to research surveys for years. If they "find" that I have a statistically high chance of some condition that I've already told them I have, I don't need a link to boilerplate infomation about what this risk means! The system should "know" that, or at least ask if I do have whatever, so on the backend, following these predictions over time will be more useful. #crowdcourcedscience
To all my fellow cats living in Dayton, here’s some stuff I’ve learned about elections in this town.
Only 1 in 10 registered voters participated in our last “Hometown Election” for Mayor & City Commissioners in 2021. In a city with aprox 95,000 people eligible to vote, it only took 4,914 votes for our current mayor @Jeffrey Mims to win “by a landslide.”
For the upcoming election on Tuesday, we have 7,718 fewer registered voters on the rolls for the City than in 2021. Why? Purges by Secretary of State @FrankLaRose? People scared off or given up on the process, convinced their one little vote has no real value? I dunno.
I know I’m NOT GIVING UP.
However many lives I have left, I’m going out voting. Tuesday I will be poll working - again.
If you’re registered, plan to vote.
If you can’t go Tuesday, here’s how to vote Friday, Saturday or Sunday:
Drive to Montgomery County building
[451 W. Third St., Dayton, OH 45422](https://t.co/dzdDf4rLRG).
Park in the garage and take your ticket in with you - they will validate it for you when you vote because PARKING IS FREE!
Schedule:
Friday Oct 31, 7:30 am - 7:30 pm
Saturday Nov 1, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Sunday Nov 2, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
That is all.
Meow and out!
@SenJonHusted VERY disappointed in this - to the point that my meager ability to contribute to campaigns will henceforth all be redirected to my local PBS and NPR stations. They uniquely enhance my life and local community every single day!
As a participant in the 1st cohort of the Journalism Lab, it's always been refreshing - and sometimes sobering - to hear Stephen's thoughtful and wise perspectives on his adopted country.

HEADS UP OHIO:
On Valentine's Day, Ohio Andrew Brenner @Brennerforohio introduced SB104 - 110 pages of proposed legislation entitled "Regards Local Regulation, Taxing of Short-Term Rental Properties." It has already been assigned a hearing date in the Local Government Committee for this coming Wednesday, March 5. You can read the bill here:

Shame on @Aetna , who discontinued a low premium medicare Rx program for healthy seniors & replacement plan's premium is 700% higher! Also, if customers missed the memo about this, it's "too late" to opt out, so pts are stuck with that price gouge for full 12 months.
THIS is what democracy SHOULD look like: elected officials from different parties working together. 💕Thanks Rachel Baker & @AndreaWhite2020 for transcending partisanship to protect ALL OHIO NURSES! @ohionursesassoc https://t.co/OEpUSq0rWO
As a seasoned poll worker, I got to discuss the nuances in new Ohio voter ID requirements with Secretary of State, @FrankLaRose at @WarpedWing. He reminded everyone that poll workers are volunteers, who are also your neighbors, and urged- Pls be patient & kind to PWs on Nov 5! 🇺🇸
Know where your vote can really change things in your neighborhood or school district? It's in the races for mysterious jobs like Clerk of Courts. We need someone to accurately track and share what happens in our courts, and I think my friend Lynn Cooper will be great at it!
