You know the thing about March Madness that can’t be answered on a bracket or a ton of fancy analytics is ONE SIMPLE QUESTION: What kid (or kids) just decides to put fate in their own hands and have the legendary run?? The Jack Gohlke, Doug Edert, or Ali Farokhmanesh type run who may not start or average double digit PPG or have been highly recruited but just has a streak where they are unconscious and nothing can stop them?? A run where Strength of Schedule, NET, WAB, or even Wins Over Top 25 CANNOT stop a kids sheer WILL to be LEGENDARY for a finite period of time Simulations or metrics can’t put their finger on the simple factor of VARIANCE That’s what makes this tournament so beautiful! Nebraska likely mops up the floor with Troy 99 times out of 100 but what if Thursday morning, The unknown by many red haired Campbell Brothers who each shoot around 40% from 3 decide to just go postal Thursday morning and ruin a B10 behemoths potential run!?!?
