Ramzia from Paiwand did a training session about refugee and migrant mental health with Barnet Talking Therapy on 23rd January. We strive to raise awareness about the obstacles faced by Afghan asylum seekers as well as how therapy can be provided in a culturally-sensitive way.

The issue of Afghan women has become a political tool for opportunists.
Afghan men can play a significant role. Simple changes such as their presence at women's rights gatherings, alongside their wives, sisters, and daughters, can bring about a major cultural shift.

Last year, I presented at the 42nd Annual Bereavement Care Conference on the ongoing grief experienced by the Afghan diaspora. One of the underlying causes is their constant mental reliving of the war and its associated atrocities. Social media ensures our wounds never heal!
