⚠️A hunger crisis in #Somalia is unfolding.
It's driven by a dangerous combination of drought, reduced humanitarian assistance, and the ripple effects of conflict in the Middle East.
Hear from WFP's @mfjhollingworth in Puntland, one of the areas hardest hit. ⤵️
Continued neglect would be a tragedy for many Afghans, whose crushing poverty deserves far greater attention. Many lives depend upon compromises between the Taliban and the rest of the world. https://t.co/0w1bH9YOmo
Together with other UN experts, I condemn the unlawful military strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran.
It is possible to hold both positions simultaneously: the attacks are unlawful; Iran’s human rights record is gravely troubling. These are not competing conclusions. International law is not selectively invoked; it applies to all parties, in all circumstances.
Over 160 schoolgirls were killed in an attack on a primary school in Minab, Hormozgan Province. Hospitals and densely populated areas have also been struck.
Iranian authorities have again weaponised internet restrictions, with connectivity collapsed to approximately 1% of normal levels — cutting people off from information and contact.
I am also receiving deeply troubling reports that some prison wards are being locked down, families have not been able to contact their loved ones in detention, and that those held in detention are facing acute shortages of food and medical care.
Any path forward must be grounded in the rule of law, the will of the Iranian people, and full accountability for violations of international law by all parties.

Israel has prepared the public for up to a month of hostilities- but no one knows where this is headed, how bad it could get and what the endgame looks like
Devastating scenes - In the Southern Iranian city of Minab, a mass funeral was held for 165 girls when their school was attacked on Saturday.
The U.S. Central Command says officials are looking into reports a school was struck.
The Red Crescent Society estimates at least 787 people in Iran have been killed by airstrikes since the war began.

How many more have to die before the apartheid regime occupying Palestine is brought down? Almost 100 years of wars, suffering, refugees, destruction. Their appetite for killing is insatiable! To end it we must end the apartheid regime!
Anger is boiling over in Pakistan, as protesters storm and burn the US consulate in Karachi. Pakistan is the home to the world's second largest Shia population in the world. The killing of Khamenei will have repercussions for the US.
🚨 BREAKING: Israel has launched strikes targeting Iranian leaders. And Iran has retaliated with missile attacks on US bases in the Middle East.
So, what happens now?

We reaffirm, once again, that we will not abandon the advancement of women’s rights in Syria, including their right to self-defense. We call on the international community to continue supporting the women of Kurdistan, Syria, and the Middle East.
#Heartbroken: Afghan women have the “right” to beg in the freezing cold, but not the right to education or work under the Taliban. Millions are raised in their name, yet hunger and suffering continue. Where is the accountability? Where is the UN?

Nooria, a 13-year-old girl, was detained by the Taliban for wearing men’s clothing so she could work and feed her family. Silence enables injustice. #FreeNooria
Day 1,614 of girls being banned from getting an education in #Afghanistan
So much lost potential due to the #Taliban denying millions of young women their fundamental right. You are not forgotten.

For the first time in at least a century, a gray wolf has been found in Los Angeles County. Its arrival is a milestone in the return of the long-embattled predator.

We should be very careful when technology promises to "bring species back". Extinction is not a switch you flip on/off. If we begin to believe it is reversible, we risk becoming less urgent about protecting the wild places and animals that still remain. https://t.co/5V1xqLZ0cH

In nature, love shows up
honest, instinctive, and true. 💕
This Valentine’s Day, celebrate love that doesn’t need applause.
It already rules the wild. 💚
