@Blob59768648 I believe it might have been symbolic. The "hobos" were wanting a world where books could be on paper (not getting burned), and them rebuilding the city was kind of like building a new world from scratch for book. #aplac2

I thought it was interesting that the book mentioned Montag first met Mildred in Chicago, but not how. #aplac2

When Montag is "at peace" in the River, away from the city. It made me think of how technology today seems to consume everything from a person starting with their attention, to time, and later becoming indispensible to a person. We need to avoid being consumed by it #aplac2

@big_fuchs I agree with that. And with public safety being brought up frequently in the media, that made me think of the issues and debates with guns. Some people would say people kill people, but there are a some other people who would say guns kill people. #aplac2

It seemed like Montag wanted to be left alone from distractions when he was venturing into the books, but why did Montag shut off the door-voice but keep the telephone on? Wouldn't it have been better to disable both?#aplac2

The women discussed the war so casually they made it sound like a minor inconvinience rather than a significant issue. I think today in society we're often times the same when addressing issues of discrimination for race or gender because it is brought up so frequently #aplac2

I think it is a bit ironic how towards the end of section 2 Captain Beatty quotes texts from different books, written by different authors, to tell Montag that reading books will only betray him #aplac2

Mildred says that the old woman dying is her own fault because she shouldn't have books. Do you think the brainwashing of everyone to despise books has anything to do with the proverb of "knowledge is power?" #aplac2

I think Montag feeling guilt when he knew Clarisse was gone shows that he lives in an impassive society. #aplac2

When Montag looked up at the ventilator grille and looked away because he remembered that there was something behind the grille watching him, that reminded me of 1984. Big Brother was watching people, similar to how Montag was being watched by something behind the grille. #aplac2
