Many of our customers access benefits; it's the only way of getting by.
But we frequently hear from them that the benefits system is hard to navigate and makes them feel stigmatised.
Last week, our CEO attended @turn2us_org's launch of its report 'From Stigma to Support'.

🧵 @hmtreasury has published a new Financial Inclusion Strategy.
While Fair for You and the @FairCreditChty welcome the new strategy, we are concerned that it risks overlooking the role of CDFIs.

Today is the start of Talk Money Week, led by @MoneyPensionsUK.
How often do you talk openly about money?
We know that it can be a tough topic. But we also know that talking about it can help make you feel more in control, and less isolated.
#TalkMoney
When did you last chat honestly about your finances?
This is the start of Talk Money Week, led by @MoneyPensionsUK. We know that money is often a tricky topic and that credit in particular can be an emotive issue.
How will you be joining the conversation during #TalkMoney Week?
Fair credit is vital. Fair credit works.
This new report from the Centre for Responsible Credit (@responsiblecred) highlights again the many positive impacts - both financial and non-financial - that ethical lending can have on low-income or financially-excluded customers.
🔟 10 years
💷 100,000 customers
💜 £797m in social value
Three numbers of which we are very proud.
As today's new report from @responsiblecred shows, we've proven that it is possible to lend sustainably to financially-excluded customers, creating social impact in the process.
The Fair Credit Charity will now be chaired by Jonathan Moore, who is a former CEO and board member at two credit unions, and has been a trustee since 2022.
Thank you, Tom, for all you have done!

Since the charity and lender launched in 2015, Fair for You has provided ethical microloans to 100,000 families, enabling them to buy essential items, avoid hardship, and stay away from exploitative lenders or loan sharks.
Tom has chaired the charity since its creation.

🆕 The Fair Credit Charity's new report, published today, is based on insights from migrants to the UK and highlights the impact of #FinancialExclusion.
📈 It also argues for wider access to tailored, responsible credit for this group.

What are migrants' experiences of applying for credit? And should access to ethical credit for this group be a policy concern?
Arriving in a new country – even for affluent migrants with jobs, housing and other arrangements already made – can be a challenging, scary time.

And for those arriving without such privileges, or whose move was not a matter of choice, it will be harder still to find any level of security, in particular financial security.

More great news from Fair for You CIC, again supported by @Fair4AllFinance.
In the words of Simon Dukes, CEO of both the Fair Credit Charity and @FairforYouCIC: "Responsible and affordable lending changes lives, and this partnership with Iceland is proof of that."
The Iceland Food Club is back with @FairforYouCIC - applications now open for interest-free micro loans to help ease the burden for people this Christmas. We’ll open further windows during school hols in ‘25. Proud to say we’ve helped over 30,000 families save more than £2m in interest so far!
