We're the Bucks County chapter of Fair Districts PA, a statewide non-partisan coalition of organizations and individuals working to end #gerrymandering in PA.
#HappyPresidentsDay
George Washington was the only US president not aligned with a political party.
He warned against "the spirit of party".
Unrestrained partisanship can distract from sound policy & kindle dangerous animosity.

Get ready for #GroundhogDay-again!
PA is ground zero for the time warp where nothing gets done.
How many years has PA General Assembly been talking about school funding? Property tax reform? Support for regionalized EMS? Gift bans?
It doesn't need to be this way. #FixHarrisburg
#2024resolutions 🇺🇸1
s PA ready for the #2024 election?
in 2020 former @PAHouseGOP Gene DiGirolamo warned of a man-made disaster facing PA in the 2020 election. Mail-in ballots without provision for pre-canvassing meant unavoidable vote-count delay. https://t.co/bIGfaMie7j
#PAHouse voted 117-86 to approve proposed state budget late Wednesday. It includes investment in some bipartisan priorities & some obvious tradeoffs.
PA voters would benefit from an accessible data showing clear comparisons with past, present, proposed.

#FlagDay2023 The US flag symbolizes E pluribus unum: out of many, one.
In the spirit of that unity, we celebrate the #PAHouse Bipartisan Caucus. As Americans, we respect differences, listen to other points of view & negotiate solutions. #MeetMeintheMiddle

Fiscal stability, infrastructure, economy, education, environment, crimes & correction: all are harmed by outdated policies & partisan posturing.
Good solutions have been ignored for decades by leaders catering to gain-seeking donors.
Voters want better. #FixHarrisburg
#ICYMI: @SpotlightPA panel w @SenatorKristin & @RepBradford is available online.
As both say, neither party has a monopoly on good ideas.
Neither can afford to shut the other out completely.
Divided but not dysfunctional?
Voters will be watching.

@BrennanCenter asks "What can Congressional committees teach us about bipartisan collaboration?"
@AdamKinzinger@DanielStrauss4 & @KornbergMaya recorded panel w live text chat.
Are there lessons for @PALegis? We'll be watching.
April 26, 1 pm.

PA’s Supreme Court receives relatively few cases each year, but its rulings have a major impact on political & cultural issues-think election disputes, mask mandates, reproductive rights, & more.
Add #redistricting to the list.

Gridlock?
There's plenty in #Harrisburg.
In the 2021-22 session more than 1/2 the bills passed in each chamber were ignored in the other.
More than 1/2 of those ignored bills passed the other chamber unanimously.
Even though @PAGOP controlled both. https://t.co/AXnGPnAQYw
PA lawmakers raise questions about election integrity but show little interest in reining in their own #in politics: opacity of spending, per diems instead of receipts, boatloads of money in PA campaigns, failure to consider #giftban legislation.

Ending closed primaries is so important here in #BucksCounty, with a lot of Independent voters! Broad cross-partisan support from citizens, but needs action in H'Burg. @FIxHarrisburg@Ballot_PA@FairDistrictsPA
🏀 End to closed primaries would allow unaffiliated voters to choose a primary ballot. Voters registered with a major party would vote their own party's ballot.
🏀 Pre-canvas legislation would allow opening & preparation of mail-in ballots to minimize delay in the final count.
While #MarchMadness moves into #Final4
our #FixHarrisburg Bipartisan Bills Bracket moves to essential 8.
All are top legislative priorities of statewide groups.
All should have been passed long ago.
Follow the thread & vote. 🧵🏀
Democracy is not a spectator sport!
If you're not already sprinting toward May 16 primary, here are 2 non-partisan ways to get involved 🧵
1. Be a poll worker! A paid, all-day position for anyone 17 or older

Recognition that state courts are major players in high-profile policy fights have fueled outside funding in state court races.
Not every state elects judges.
In those (like PA) that do, high court elections are partisan, politicized & swimming in cash.

Do regular people want better rules in both #PAHouse & #PASenate? We do.
We object to committee chairs who acts as petty tyrants, object to good bills blocked year after year, object to bundled constitutional amendments.
We are paying attention & we're just getting started.
TY @KateHuangpu13 & @StephenJ_Caruso for highlights & themes from Speaker’s Listening Tour.
TY Workgroup members & #PAHouse reps who showed up to listen.
PA voters want to be heard. That’s an important part of gov’t of, by & for the people https://t.co/4uAOgz6zYM
Every day is #GroundhogDay in @PALegis.
One refrain in #PAHouse Listening Tour: bills introduced year after year after year with no progress. Hope, defeat, despair, fury. It's worth the time to solve it. #FixHarrisburg so #BipartisanSolutions get a vote.

#PAHouse & #PASenate rules should be in law. Right now, the rules – from the most arcane to the most strategic – are under the control of whichever political party holds the majority in that chamber. #FixHarrisburg@FixHarrisburg https://t.co/dYnyf67cUB
