A campaign to improve the wages and conditions of Fringe staff. Standing up to bosses exploitation. Send us stories, or media requests to [email protected]
Our new report uses #edfringe job adverts to clearly show how this festival is built on exploitation.
Highlights include paying people less than minimum wage, demanding photos on applications & getting little or no time off. Read report here: https://t.co/K5A3fFkKcy #fairfringe
EXCLUSIVE - campaigners have compiled a new dossier on the “terrible” and “shameful” pay and conditions put in place by Edinburgh Festival Fringe companies over the next month: https://t.co/ZTQTauPbr8 @FairFringe@edfringe@TheScotsman@scotsman_arts

@FairFringe@tesodb Both @edfringe McCarthy & @ComedyAwards Burns have shown their ignorance to how grass-roots #edfringe operates this year - and what the ‘spirit of the fringe’ really is in 2019. It’s certainly not supporting large businesses increase profits underpaying workers #fairfringe
The PWYW/free models are used by the likes of Shona McCarthy of the #edfringe society to defend exploitative employers but this flimsy argument is vehemently and rightly rejected by those involved.

The @edfringe has only just started yet some employees have already worked 9 days without a break.

Most #edfringe shows haven't started yet, but already we are receiving extremely concerning reports from venue workers regarding h&s, 12+ hour shifts and inadequate breaks.

While the report acknowledges that “massive strides forward” have been made, many of the issues raised by the @FairFringe campaign since its founding two years ago have endured https://t.co/HVg7XvcUjg
Edinburgh is especially expensive during #edfringe and poverty pay is not enough to live on. You can't buy food with free tickets, or even use those tickets when you're working every single day.

Poverty pay, potentially discriminatory hiring practices and use of "volunteers" are unfortunately still rife at #EdFringe

“Some festival employers insist that if they paid their staff a proper wage their business would collapse. But the reality is that any business which can’t afford to pay its staff properly cannot afford to operate. It is simply unacceptable." https://t.co/HVg7XuViUG
