The Preston and South Ribble Fairtrade Group coordinates Fairtrade activity throughout the year, particularly during #FairtradeFortnight#fairtradetowns
While the world’s largest human rights organization says Israel cutting off electricity and aid to Gaza is “further evidence of Israel’s genocide against Palestinians,” Western media frames it as a tactic to pressure Hamas.
Palestinians in Gaza are facing severe thirst, disease, and starvation after the Israeli government abruptly cut off all electricity to Gaza two days ago. The Israeli military has not allowed any humanitarian aid into Gaza for 9 days. 🧵
We see unbalanced reporting about Palestine in the media but not this series. I'd love all to see the season finale & realities of living there (pre 8/10/23)
But away from TV dramas there's real life & I recently read this https://t.co/lSGGoxNFcD
I think you know what to do 🫒
It was great to hear from Matt @BalaSportUK at our AGM last night. It's been quite a journey but quality fairly traded footballs ♥️⚽♥️ are finally here. Look out for them from your local Fairtrader or buy direct

FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT IN PRESTON – BE THE CHANGE
Last Saturday we had a great day at the Maker’s Market in Preston
celebrating 30 years of the Fairtrade Mark and 20 years of Preston as a Fairtrade City
#FairtradeFortnight
Just had a fantastic meeting with Lancashire county council
They are very proud to have increased their #Fairtrade procurement tenfold in the last twelve months and now all their 18 coffee machines run on 100% Fairtrade coffee and all teabags are Fairtrade including Beacon Fell
Today we joined the @PrestonMayor and his team to celebrate renewing our status as a Fairtrade community and to mark the great achievement of 20 years of being a Fairtrade City.
#fairtrade
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Preston being a Fairtrade City. To celebrate the occasion, the Mayor welcomed Fairtrade Preston and former Mayor, Mrs Pat Woods to his parlour to talk about the growth of Fairtrade within the city.
As we witness the devastating violence, suffering and fear in Rafah and across Gaza, I appeal to the Government of Israel to consider the likely atrocious human cost of an incursion into Rafah.
Please join me in urgent prayer that the protection of civilians, central to international and humanitarian law, is honoured.
This war cannot achieve the aims either of security for Israel, or a free and secure Palestinian state. We can only implore choosing the way of life not death.
I continue to urge an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages to stop this appalling war.
Today it is 11 years since 1,134 workers were killed and thousands more were maimed and traumatized just so we could have cheap disposable clothing.

Sadly things seem to have barely improved
