No one mentioned going to hell (for being arrogant). Thinking that you can teach about the Orthodox Church as a convert is arrogance. Treating Orthodoxy as a Protestant denomination is a sin and arrogant. Did you know that even monastics are not allowed the teach or write before 20 years as a tonsured monk? I’ve been Orthodox my entire life (73). Generations of my family were Orthodox back to Christ in Bethlehem. I’ve been a priest 28 years. I have 3 theology degrees, one of them in demonology. I’m not qualified to teach or write books about Orthodoxy. I’m not anywhere near as educated as Orthodox theologians. Yet many new converts write books and teach online and argue with priests. That’s the epitome of arrogance. They never once consider they are wrong, or if that hurts someone. Jay Dyer has been Orthodox 10 years. He has no degree in theology. He acts like a scholar, attacks Protestants and Catholics and makes money doing this. That is arrogant and in Jays case, fraud.
