@ms_williams100@adamboxer1 I hope my explanations therefore assisted in answering your questions around the ‘how’ for most schools who have digitised. The ‘why’ would depend on what specifically you are querying: why post the video at all, or why spend time on the admin required. The OP sharing T&L? 🤷♀️
@ms_williams100@adamboxer1 Thank you; your question implied you didn’t know how consent worked within a school for social media/otherwise. You’re making some assumptions about the OP, to be fair. And many (most) parents have opted in, in every school I’ve worked in. Seems there are different experiences.
@ms_williams100@adamboxer1 Generic permission requests upon entry to school. Creates an easily viewable register within the school MIS. Nothing to do with individual teachers, as that would be work intensive for them.
@Headteacherchat I’ve always taught. Though think it’s easier in secondary to have a full class or two as it’s a set number of hours a week. Assume you’re therefore primary, so potentially share a class?
@Headteacherchat I’ve recently been covertly recorded. Also had the meeting minuted so no issues with content. Sought HR/legal advice who confirmed it’s not legal to record without consent of all parties. We therefore requested a copy of the recording. You could offer to audio record instead?
@Headteacherchat Very normal. I can’t speak for primary, but the first 2 to 3 years felt like that for me. You then map out the pinch-points in your own context, and plan around them. As others say, get into a head’s network - support from people who ‘get it’ is really important
@TTRadioOfficial If not an Exclusion the letter is therefore definitely off-rolling. If nothing else it shows a distinct lack of understanding around admissions/suspensions/PEXs & how secondaries run. I run an inclusive school, as I expect all heads say they do; that doesn’t negate admission law
@TTRadioOfficial@hussain_roksana Guessing she means issue a Permanent Exclusion (which I don’t think can be justified by the current Exclusion guidance, and would therefore not be upheld by governors nor at an IRP if it got that far) otherwise this is essentially off-rolling, which is illegal.
@Strickomaster Perhaps naively, but I was surprised to hear schools don’t let staff use their PPA however they choose; on site, off site, in the school gym 🤷♀️ why flex isn’t given automatically is beyond me
@ClassChartsPS@MrMetacognition @LittleMy2020 @naomicfisher Exactly, it depends on the school. Mine is precise in the incident type. So we can filter precisely. I would assume other schools (clearly not all) are precise in their coding to allow for that as well.
@naomicfisher I can honestly say I’ve never heard of a child not being allowed to attend a trip due to attendance, uniform, equipment etc. I would not, however, put my staff in the legally risky position of taking a child with unsafe behaviours. Losing their job is absolutely not worth it
@ClassChartsPS@MrMetacognition @LittleMy2020 @naomicfisher I would assume because the school has categorised the type of point, naming each. This would therefore allow you to drawn a report for ‘assault’ or ‘racism’. Allows for very precise analysis. Many schools do this as it enables them to explore patterns and trends.
@Headteacherchat I’m sorry you’re understaffed; I’m assuming that not out of choice! I’d suggest an anonymous staff survey to identify the core issues, take action to make changes *everywhere* possible, then present as ‘you said, we did’. But you need to *really* listen to have proper impact.
@meredithfox22 @Strickomaster Absolutely agree ☹️ some really vulnerable students were almost in tears. If only the boards had some pre-warning about these exams that were coming up and could really consider timing and placement……. 😑
@PrimaryCoHead More than happy to help… shout if you would like a little more info! We’ve paid for solicitors to support in writing responses too; worth every single penny!
@marieannswift @teachwellall @petergates3 I suppose that just proves that all schools are very different depending on context, location and demographic. I’ve worked in 3 faith schools and 2 secular. Parents/students more challenging in all church schools, but staff more collegiate. Perhaps it’s just location that differs
