Breaking News: I have successfully stolen… my own phone. 📱👏 @airtelindia
At least that’s what Airtel’s systems seemed to believe.
Here’s how my adventure unfolded.
📅 6 August 2026
I called Airtel Customer Care to enquire about an IPTV connection.
A few hours later, I discovered my mobile number had been suspended. No incoming. No outgoing.
So I called Customer Care (using another phone) to ask what happened.
Airtel: “Sir, your device has been reported as stolen.”
Me: “Interesting… because I’m literally holding it.”
Apparently, according to Airtel, I was in possession of my own “stolen” phone.
After nearly an hour and repeated requests to review the call recordings, I was informed that the barring had occurred during my earlier interaction with Customer Care.
Problem solved?
Not even close.
Level 2 unlocked: Airtel Quest
➡️ Customer Care: “Please visit the Airtel Store.”
So I did.
➡️ Airtel Store: “We can’t unbar it. Please call Customer Care.”
So I called.
➡️ Customer Care: “Please visit the Airtel Store.”
At one point, I watched an Airtel Store Manager trying to convince Airtel Customer Care that the issue originated within Airtel’s own processes.
When your own teams are debating each other while you’re standing in the middle… you know you’re no longer a customer.
You’re an audience.
Finally, I was assured: “It will be resolved within 1–2 hours.”
Plot twist.
The next morning…
Still barred.
Back to the store.
Back to Customer Care.
Back to explaining the same story.
If this were a video game, I’d have unlocked the achievement: 🏆 “Explain the Same Problem to 10 Different People.”
As someone working in cybersecurity, I know mistakes happen. Systems fail. People make errors.
But what frustrates customers isn’t the initial mistake.
It’s when fixing the mistake becomes harder than making it.
Today, my only request is simple:
Please restore my services so I can receive my UPC and decide whether I want to continue with Airtel or port my number elsewhere.
A mobile number today isn’t just a SIM card. It’s banking OTPs, work calls, family, authentication, and emergency communication.
I genuinely hope Airtel reviews its internal processes so that no one else has to go on this unexpected “customer support adventure.”
Has anyone else experienced something similar with a telecom provider?

Airtel SIM swap fraud, through @airtelindia customer care.
On 6 Aug, my @airtelindia mobile number was suddenly barred.
I discovered it when I couldn’t call my colleagues. Customer Care informed me my device had been marked as “stolen”—while I was speaking to them from that very device.
After nearly an hour, Airtel acknowledged the barring had occurred during an earlier customer care interaction and due to their customer care executive’s neglligence. I was sent to an Airtel Store. The store sent me back to Customer Care. Customer Care sent me back to the store. Even the Store Manager couldn’t get an immediate resolution.
It’s now 7 Aug, and my services are still suspended.
My number is linked to banking OTPs, work, and family communication. A mistake can happen, but customers shouldn’t spend days trying to get a company to undo its own error.
I now just want my services restored so I can obtain my UPC and decide whether to continue with Airtel or port to another operator.
Hoping @airtelindia resolves this urgently.

@NinadMishra5 LLM-Specific Risks: Risks related to hallucination (generating incorrect but plausible information) and bias amplification could be explicitly included.
Lack of SSL Pinning is rated low (P5) but can result in severe attacks in mobile applications and could be reclassified as P4.
@Nadira_ali12 I am a hindu, and i don’t support genocide. Neither i know someone and never want to know someone who support such violence thats happening.
I think the thread blowing up is both a curse and a bless: people are finally now realizing that the APT operations have been ongoing for ages. If it weren't for the leak, I could have probably never revealed just how wide of an impact they've been causing over the last few years
Nuclei v3 is finally out; it includes multiple new additions that enable us to write a versatile set of templates, including complex and multi-protocol workflows in the form of repeatable @pdnuclei templates.
