@Doowan_ No, no, yes.
For Phoenix and Chompers you are paying for an ability, not the unit. The ability is to play the unit, but that is not the unit’s cost.
For Resto, the key word is “for”. “Play me for x” means we are changing the cost of the card, and that can be discounted
@Doowan_ Yes.
Both are replacement effects. GA can die and recall BA to replace BA’s death, and BA’s ability can replace GA’s death. Equipped gear counts as at a battlefield if the unit is there.
@Doowan_ Allowed
Hidden rules state that “you must play to that battlefield” and DR states “you play it to this battlefield”.
These are “positive” restrictions as outlined in the Vendetta FAQ, neither say “can’t”, so you as the controller get to choose which one to follow.
@Doowan_ Example:
Heron on the BF with H2H hidden.
On my focus I flip H2H.
Then I react to H2H with En Guard, targeting Heron.
En Guard resolves, triggering Heron’s discount.
H2H resolves, allowing me to play Carnivorous Snapvine with discounts from H2H and Heron (free).
@Doowan_ It’s possible, but semi unintuitive.
Heron triggers off the first card “played” this turn (meaning resolved) so you must play and resolve a card in reaction to your own H2H. Then when H2H resolves it will apply both discounts to the unit from hand, making it free.
@Doowan_@Prismaticismism 2. Yes, all conquer effects are put on the chain as pending items (even if they do nothing). If Houses conquered and scored SoP, there will be a reactable trigger from that conquer
@Doowan_@Prismaticismism Houses wins. Rengar is played before the current combat ends, but after conquering, effectively staging a combat for after all conquer effects take place. As part of conquering Houses gets control of the battlefield, so Shen is the defender in the next combat.
@BenedekBiczo@Whoopashigitt@QuakrG0ats@Doowan_ They’ll need to update the rules for this, but because units can only have “when I attack” triggered once per combat, it makes sense that “when X attacks” would also be only once.
I would guess the wording is because technically “you” don’t attack, your “units” attack
@Whoopashigitt@QuakrG0ats@Doowan_ Agree with this, only initially attacking units can be targeted, because the trigger should happen only once at the start of a combat showdown.
However, you could react to a move trigger with ambush, allowing you to start the combat with both units there and targetable.
@Doowan_ You can ensure the kill on the 6M unit by assigning it 6 damage, effectively killing it twice, only one instance of which could be stopped with zhonyas
@Doowan_ Yes they can save one, but they cannot chose which to save. Both units will be “marked for death” by ID, and one will be killed by combat damage. Your opponent would have to react with zhonyas to the ID trigger on the unit not killed during combat (after combat damage)
@Doowan_@anzidmtg No and no, accelerate and additional costs do not get affected by “ignoring the cost”. You still have to pay additional costs, however they would be affected by cost reduction, like heron trigger, which would allow you to accelerate azir for free
@Doowan_ I had this actually happen to a player in RQ Vegas, after bringing it to the head judge they ruled that play would continue the player would just have no hand (lost like 5 cards on turn 3). Asked them after “why not a game loss” and they said “it is a game loss” lol
Hear me out: ARAM as a new Riftbound format.
It’s 3-pack sealed, but you don’t look, and you shuffle it all together. Take out tokens and runes.
Domains don’t matter. Start with blank battlefields. No legend. No champ. Draw an extra card at the start of your first turn.
Every time you draw a legend, you must replace your current legend. Then draw a card.
Every time you draw a battlefield, you must replace an existing battlefield. Then draw a card.
Have fun! Lmk how it goes
