🔸Le palais royal de Norvège a annoncé le décès du roi Harald V, à l’âge de 89 ans. Il était hospitalisé depuis le 17 août à Oslo et son état de santé avait été qualifié de « très grave » ces derniers jours.

Monté sur le trône en 1991 après la mort de son père, le roi Olav V, Harald V était le souverain en exercice le plus âgé d’Europe. Le prince héritier Haakon doit désormais lui succéder conformément à l’ordre de succession.

Por el momento, se desconocen más datos acerca del estado de salud del rey Harald. En todo caso, ahora se plantea el futuro de la Corona: ¿se convertirá Mette-Marit en reina consorte de Noruega? El artículo 34 de la Constitución noruega establece lo siguiente: "El Rey regulará los títulos de quienes tengan derecho de sucesión a la Corona", lo que indica que —debido a los últimos acontecimientos que afectan a la esposa de Haakon— podría ostentar cualquier otro título, sin tener que ser específicamente el de reina. Una cuestión que, al desvelarse su relación con Jeffrey Epstein, llegó al Parlamento.

No obstante, en caso de que Harald falleciese, como nuevo monarca, correspondería a Haakon regular los títulos de la casa real. Teóricamente, un rey podría romper con la tradición y otorgar a su esposa un título menor —como Princesa Consorte— pero esto dependería de la voluntad del propio Haakon y de las consultas con el gobierno.

The King of Norway, 89, is in a very serious condition in hospital after his health worsened. Queen Sonja is with him as are their two children, Crown Prince Haakon and Princess Martha Louise.

King Harald's sister, Princess Astrid, 94, left the hospital a short while ago.

🇳🇴 King Harald’s condition has ‘deteriorated’ at Rikshospitalet [the National Hospital] this past weekend, the Royal House has announced.

The King is currently receiving antibiotics for a bacterial infection in the blood & has responded to treatment.

His Majesty’s condition is ‘stable’ with no further comment from the Royal House this evening. A new health bulletin is expected in due course.
