3: The Bank will not release funds to you directly but through FARMERS AGGREGATION COMPANIES.

4: FARMER AGGREGATOR COMPANY: approved by the @bankofagricng under the Renewed Hope Smallholder Support and Value-Chain Fund (RH-SHF) is expected to serve as the link between the Bank and thousands of Small holder Farmers.

-(a): they are to organize farmers into clusters, cooperatives or out-grower schemes

-(b): Verify farmers through NIN and maintain accurate database.

-(c): Distribute farm inputs: supply certified seeds, fertilizers, agro chemicals and other production inputs to participating farmers.

-(d): Provide extension services

-(e): monitor crop production throughout farming season.

THE MAIN STORY: FARMERS read:

5: (a): Collect produce from farmers after harvest

-(b): Grade,sort, and store produce in suitable warehouse before sale. Post harvest losses eliminated.

6: FACILITATE MARKET ACCESS:

-(a): Secure buyers or OFF-TAKERS for farmer’s produce. Tinubu says farmers don’t worry about sales oooo

-(b): Ensure produce is sold at agreed market terms where applicable.

-(a): coordinate payments to farmers via sales of produce

8: Summary: FAC is expected to manage the entire value chain for participating farmers.

We don't appreciate Nigerian Scientists enough!

If you notice tomato scarcity is not as bad as it was few years ago, even though it's expensive due to cultivation & harvest timeline. We haven't and may not experience very harsh Tomato scarcity.

Did you know the reason why?

Our local scientists develop a flood resistant tomato variety that continue to do well in rainy season & in flood prone areas . Without these improved seeds, you and I would have had to wait until October or November before tomato prices declined.

This is a good step in the right direction and we appreciate the efforts of every Nigerian food scientist in their struggle to help us achieve good security.

Remember Nigeria spent $360m every year importing tomato paste, but it is not that Nigeria is not producing enough tomato. Challenge is nearly 2 out of every 3 Tomato 🍅 produced rotten off before reaching the consumer.

The downstream sector (production scientists) has done a good job in strengthening production.. we need the upstream tomatoes 🍅 innovators (food processors and preservation technicians) to help us prevent rottening tomato in the country!
