bat fact: liking bats or any other wildlife is inherently political
if we don't want these amazing animals to go extinct we have to force our governments into taking care of our planet
@mattsheffield 17. Voters who knew the facts voted for Harris. Voters who believed lies voted for Trump. That is the new fault line in American politics.
A little story if you dont mind. I once owned a business. One day myself and a white employee were going to a client's home in a city called Livonia (Mi). We were driving down a main street going west. A police car was going east.
The cop looked over at us as we passed. I told my white employee that we're about to get pulled over. Sure enough, the cop whipped a u-turn, hit his lights, and pulled up behind us.
My employee was a little shaken and asked, what did you do, Mr. Ross? I said, nothing. The cop asks for the usual. I asked him, "Why did you stop me?" He said your brake lights are out. My employee blurted out, "That’s Bull $h*t Mr. Ross!!! How did he see your brake light while he was driving towards us?"
The officer saw my fire department badge when I gave him my driver's license and didn't pursue his ruse any further and let me go. He was fishing. Hoping to find a black guy driving dirty. When the cop pulled away, we checked my brake lights, and they were fine.
I told my employee, "You've just witnessed, "Driving While Black." It's a real thing.
There’s a teenager in the ICU in BC with bird flu.
As news spreads- I’m seeing increasing number of people ask “what health conditions did he have? Was he overweight?”
Can we PLEASE not do this again? A 16 year old is fighting for his life. Stop looking for fault /1 🧵
The latest US literacy stats have just dropped and they are every bit as grim as you might imagine.
"Approximately 50% of Americans read so poorly that they are unable to perform simple tasks such as reading prescription drug labels"
The Anatomy of a Borb.
By fluffing up their feathers, they trap tiny pockets of air close to their bodies, which acts as insulation. Helping them regulate their temperature and making them very round.
The same things that stop covid stop flu dead in its tracks.
Bird flu too.
You know.
Masks. Testing. Isolating when sick. Good hand hygiene. The simple stuff.
We don't need to have a pandemic, you know.
To all conference attendees everywhere, please never decline a mic. The loudness of a voice is not the only thing that makes it intelligible and so some of us cannot hear you regardless of how well you project.
This is my 11th year of tweeting this plea.

@Nuraar Pfffft, your coworker needs to up their game. 35 wpm is slooow. I can hit 75 or 80 wpm without breaking a sweat. Sometimes 90 if I'm really in the zone.
