There are groups that support Republicans. There are groups that support Democrats. We're building something different.
The Rural Independence Initiative is the only pro-healthy-food, pro-farmer, pro-rural-America political effort willing to support candidates from any party. Candidates who are willing to stand up to corporate monopolies, restore fair competition, and put people ahead of corporations.
We don't care what letter comes after a candidate's name.
We care whether they're willing to fight for farmers, families, healthy food, and stronger communities.
If they'll fight with us, we'll stand with them.
Join the movement.

Our country didn't fall apart because of our differences.
It fell apart because powerful corporations spent decades dividing us while they quietly took control of our food system, our economy, and our government.
Today, we're launching the Rural Independence Initiative to fight back.
Fair markets. Healthy food. Economic independence.
Join us.

Today, Farm Action Fund is launching the Rural Independence Initiative to bring rural America back to life.
To fight back against the corporate monopolies that have run farmers off the land, driven local stores out of business, and decimated our small towns.
To build a movement that will lift small towns, bring back prosperous rural communities, save our hospitals, our schools, and elevate that quality of life in
rural America.
To support the farmers who grow healthy food, create competition in the meat packing and food processing industry, revise trade policies that hurt rural
communities, and ensure that rural Americans can live healthy, prosperous lives.

"Whatever happened to the Republican love affair with states’ rights? I guess it all depends on whose bacon is getting fried." @kathleenparker
The "Save Our Bacon" (SOB) Act would strengthen foreign countries such as CHINA.
The Senate should REJECT it. https://t.co/49QTjVZODf
Farm Action Fund had a great time at our booth at the MN DFL convention this past weekend. We put the F in the DFL!! Delegates were excited to thank @SenAmyKlobuchar@SenTinaSmith@AngieCraigMN for their support opposing the Save Our Bacon Scam!!
Because he has advocated for transformational change of our broken farm and food system… taken on the pesticide industry by introducing the Pesticide Injury Accountability Act…and fearlessly fought corporate monopolies that are driving farmers out of business…we wholeheartedly endorse Senator Cory Booker for reelection.
We proudly endorse Representative Massie! He has been a leading voice and champion for family farmers … courageously taken on the corporate monopolies … and led the successful fight to open local meat processing plants to give consumers more healthy food choices…we wholeheartedly endorse the reelection of Representative Thomas Massie.
Today's show: I'm joined by Joe Maxwell of the @FarmActionUS Fund to discuss how the farm bills create crushing monopolies that box out family farms and ranches, incentivize feed and fuel crops over actual food, and allow foreign conglomerates and hedge funds to dominate the meatpacking industry.

The Farm Bill CANNOT include the so-called “Save Our Bacon Act” which is nothing but a gift to foreign owned corporate farms that torture pigs to squeeze a few extra cents out of their margins. NO!
@Lewis_Bollard
The Farm Bill is being voted on THIS WEEK! Please call your member of Congress to urge them to vote YES on the Massie - Pingree amendment. Make sure Bayer Monsanto can be held accountable when their products harm farmers. The general number is (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your member’s office.
.@SenBooker: "we are working to stop this corporate land grab and ensure the future of our food system belongs to the people who actually work the land."
Texas Rep. Chip Roy just WENT OFF on Big Ag over efforts to push a pesticide liability shield in the upcoming Farm Bill.
“I’m a cancer survivor, I think there’s a significant amount of data that raises big concerns.”
“I think Big Ag needs to be body checked.”
“Big Ag, like Big Healthcare, and like Big Tech, are way too full of themselves.”
“That labeling issue is very real.”
“The people that I represent in Texas are raising this issue.”
“States ought to have the ability to manage and deal with that.”
“These provisions are in fact concerning and worthy of discussion and potential amendment.”
@chiproytx
We will BLOW UP the farm bill if Sections 10205, 10206, and 10207 are NOT REMOVED from the Farm Bill.
Section 10205 would shield pesticide makers from liability, weaken warning labels, and put foreign chemical corporations above the health of American families.
I spoke in front of the Supreme Court to oppose a case that would give legal immunity to pesticides.
And this evening I cosponsored an amendment with @chelliepingree to strip similar immunity from the Farm Bill.
My PRIME Act is in the Farm Bill, so I’m trying to clean it up.
BOOM 🔥: Rep. Thomas Massie Rips Glyphosate Immunity at "People vs. Poison" Rally Just Before Supreme Court Arguments
“They want get-out-of-court free cards.”
“They’re proposing that nobody gets any justice.”
In a fiery speech outside the U.S. Supreme Court, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) slammed efforts to shield Big Chemical companies like Bayer/Monsanto from liability over glyphosate.
“This is regulatory capture. It is corrupt.”
@RepThomasMassie
Please call your House member of Congress and urge them to vote YES on the Luna - Costa Amendment to the Farm Bill. The general number is (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your member’s office.
This War in Iran is not good for farmers, consumers or the American people.
At a time when cash strapped farmers are planting corn, cotton, soybeans and vegetables, the cost of diesel fuel and fertilizer is skyrocketing.
Some may decide not to plant at all
This will lead to more financial pain for farmers, higher food prices this fall, higher inflation, compounding the affordability crisis.
Congress can provide relief. It’s time for them to get to work providing our farmers some help so they can do what they do best- put food on our tables.
@SenBooker’s Fair Competition for Small Business Act is groundbreaking for independent farmers and small grocers.
Read his full press release announcing this legislation below: https://t.co/qINwNs5Pdq
🔥 @SenBooker just introduced a REVOLUTIONARY bill for independent farmers and small businesses.
The 1936 Robinson-Patman Act tackled price discrimination by prohibiting suppliers from charging different prices to large retail chains and small grocers.
But state attorneys general were only enabled to seek injunctive relief—not monetary damages.
Senator Booker’s Fair Competition for Small Business Act changes that, and he has our FULL support.
Farm Action Fund’s Joe Maxwell: “Senator Booker's Fair Competition for Small Business Act increases the power of the State Attorneys General in the fight to hold powerful suppliers and retailers accountable for discriminatory pricing practices that have squeezed farmers and small businesses out of the marketplace.”
“Revitalizing Robinson-Patman enforcement will help level the playing field, ensuring farmers a fair marketplace to sell into.”
Senator Booker’s bill will enable state attorneys general to “bring civil actions for damages when violating the Robinson-Patman Act.”
“This will allow state attorneys general to pursue monetary damages against distributors and retailers that engage in unlawful price discrimination, giving states the same enforcement authority they already have under other federal antitrust laws.”
