June Dairy Month started as a way to distribute additional milk during the warm months of summer. The commemoration was established in 1937 by grocer organizations sponsoring “National Milk Month.” By 1939, June became the official “dairy month.”

Cows do not have many active sweat glands. Their main way to release heat is through their breath. On these hot Minnesota days the cows really enjoy the sprinklers and fans to help keep them cool and comfortable.

We certainly love our cows and want to give them the best. There are all different kinds of ways to dairy farm and there is no right or wrong way of doing it. We choose to house our cows inside so we can monitor and maintain a healthy and clean-living space for our girls.

Inside our barns the fans come on at 60 degrees, sprinklers come on at 70 degrees, sand bedding that forms right to them (like memory foam), brushes so the cows can be clean & get to that itch they couldn’t quite reach, and the ease to move around as they please.
