Rep. Gabe Evans of Colorado filed it. It amends section 523(b)(1) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act to insert after the word cattle three classes: bred cattle, replacement heifers and cull cattle, starting crop year 2027.

They go into the federal livestock insurance pilot program, which Evans' release calls USDA's Livestock Risk Protection program. LRP covers feeder cattle and fed cattle today, not breeding stock.

The National Cattlemen's Beef Association supports it. NASS counted 28.5 million beef cows on July 1, the smallest July inventory since 1973.

USDA already moved without Congress: on Aug. 31 it announced BRAND, an LRP endorsement under the Ranchers First Initiative that insures the value of keeping a heifer for breeding two years.

Crook County, Wyoming rancher Tyler Lindholm put the decision on X this month: "every heifer I keep is a calf check I don't cash for two years, and the cost of keeping her alive isn't getting cheaper."

The bill has zero cosponsors, no hearing, no score, and it sits in the House Agriculture Committee.

🔻 THE PHARMA REP WHO SAW THE LIST.

"I sold cancer drugs for 11 years. I made $340,000 a year convincing doctors to prescribe treatments I knew didn't work. Then one night, I saw the list. And I understood everything."

I was a senior sales representative for one of the top three pharmaceutical companies in the world. I won't name them yet. My lawyers are still working on my protection agreement under the Executive Order.

Farmer Joel Salatin just railed against USDA regulations preventing ranchers from selling beef to their own neighbors.

This exposes why Trump’s announcement on farmers processing their own meat is a sham.

Farmers already can process meat themselves.

But they can’t sell it.

“If a neighbor… says, ‘I want to come over and get a rib eye steak from you,’ I can’t butcher that animal and carve out a rib eye steak and sell it.”

“The only way that anyone in this county can get a rib eye steak from the cow that was born here and raised here is for me to put that animal on a trailer, send him up the interstate to a federal inspected processing facility an hour away… then a couple weeks later, go back up, bring it back here to the farm.”

“Now my neighbor can walk across the fence and buy a rib eye steak from me.”
