In 2023, Panjab Police’s cyber cell asked X to block our account, calling it a violation of law because we posted about Professor Balwinder Kaur, who died by suicide and named cabinet minister @harjotbains in her suicide note. No action was taken against minister.

Cabinet minister Laljit Singh Bhullar @Laljitbhullar allegedly threatened Punjab Warehousing Corporation (PWC) official Gagandeep Singh Randhawa that his family & his young children would be finished off and gangsters would be sent after him if he did not award a tender to minister’s family. Gagandeep later died by suicide after facing harassment.

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਖਤਮ?

पत्रकारों को अब ब्रेक लेने के बारे में सोचना चाहिए.

कोई भी आकर पत्रकारों को उनका काम करने से रोक देता है. अधिकतर मामलों में पुलिस ऐसा करती है.

पिछले कुछ सालों में यह इतना बढ़ गया है कि अब हमारे परिवारों और दोस्तों की सहानुभूतियों का कोटा पूरा हो चुका है.

पहले मुझे लगता था कि इनको वीडियो बनाने से दिक्कत है, इसलिए अपने साथियों को बिन बताए पिछले दो साल से चुपचाप प्रिंट में काम करना शुरू कर दिया था. पर अब लगता है मामला वीडियो शीडियो का नहीं, मामला हमारे पेशे का ही है.

पेशे के सीनियर उम्मीद करते हैं कि नौजवान हो इसलिए ग्राउंड जीरो से रिपोर्ट करो. लेकिन माफ़ी के साथ कह रहा हूँ, “नब्ज़ पकड़ो” जैसे चालू वाक्य अब असर नहीं करते. ग्राउंड जीरो की ललक मर चुकी है.

हमारा पेशा ख़ुद इतना दयनीय हो चुका है कि हमारे ख़ुद के पास इसको देने के लिए कोई सहानुभूति नहीं बची है. अब कुछ बचा भी नहीं है वैसे!

एक ब्रेक ले रहा हूँ. कुछ दिन काम करने का बिल्कुल मन नहीं है. थोड़ा दर्शनशास्त्र पढ़ने का मन है.

मिलते हैं एक ब्रेक के बाद.
