An Ontario man was convicted of incest and sexual assault involving his biological sister. The abuse began when she was just 12 years old.
Instead of receiving the mandatory minimum five-year prison sentence, the judge ruled it unconstitutional in this case because of the offender’s intellectual disability. He was sentenced to house arrest instead.
A child was manipulated and abused for years. When a serious sexual offence ends in house arrest, Canadians are right to ask what has gone wrong with our justice system.
