This ridiculously dry November certainly means that the Blight pressure is next to non-existent. But on the flip side the virus risk from aphids must be extreme right now. Scouting hard today in Unica and Sherekea. Some of the varieties we grow have good resistance to PLRV, but I doubt that there is good resistance to virus Y in most material.

Sad. For 17 acres that’s just KSh 18.7M per acre, a mansion, pool, tennis court and manicured lawns included. In Kenya, that same money gets you a dusty plot in Kitengela or a squeezed townhouse in Kawangware. Our economy isn’t rich, it’s contaminated, inflated by wash-wash cash, Somali pirate loot and corruption money. When bad money rules, value dies.

In Africa, we elect leaders based on tribe, language, religion, primitive culture of circumcision & family name & even number of wives & children. It is why African with its abundant resources is stuck in 14th Century!

Europe & US elect leaders based on moral imperatives, political ideology & believable promised policy! It is why US elected a Luo as its President. UK elected an Indian with Kenya ancestry as its Prime Minister. It is why they are developed.

Classic highly weathered and heavily leached red Latosols today. A very obvious laterite layer 30cm down, then plenty of roots in the soft layers at depth.
