@PhoneYourFrien1@DaDoll_______@thesamuraijaxon@jamesjonesesq@AhkofallAhks I think we’re using different definitions.
Ur defining Black so narrowly that Nigerians, Haitians, Jamaicans, Afro-Cubans, & a bunch of Africans aren’t Black…
Most ppl use Black more broadly to include ppl of African descent across the diaspora.
She’s black, but I digress.
@PhoneYourFrien1@DaDoll_______@thesamuraijaxon@jamesjonesesq@AhkofallAhks You’re proving my point.
Cuba emphasizing “Cuban” over racial labels doesn’t mean African ancestry disappears. By that logic, white Cubans wouldn’t be white either, because Cuba doesn’t classify people that way! So at this point, what is ur point?!
@PhoneYourFrien1@DaDoll_______@thesamuraijaxon@jamesjonesesq@AhkofallAhks If race doesn’t exist, then saying Celia Cruz isn’t Black doesn’t mean anything, because Black wouldn’t exist either 😂 I meannn….
And in the U.S., Latino isn’t a race. An Afro-Cuban can be both Latino and Black.
Nationality, ethnicity, and race are not the same thing.
@PhoneYourFrien1@DaDoll_______@thesamuraijaxon@jamesjonesesq@AhkofallAhks An Afro-Cuban and an African American can have different foods, music, histories, & traditions while still sharing African ancestry.
Saying she isn’t blk b/c she grew up w/ plantains & salsa instead of collards & soul is like saying a Jamaican isn’t blk b/c they eat plantains.
@PhoneYourFrien1@DaDoll_______@thesamuraijaxon@jamesjonesesq@AhkofallAhks Cubans use the term negro (Black), blanco (white), mulato (mixed), mestizo... Cuba never having a concept of Black people isnt true. During the Cuban Revolution in the 1950s they agree to overcome racism through socialism, saying Cuban are simply Cubans. Celia is a black Cuban!
@PhoneYourFrien1@DaDoll_______@thesamuraijaxon@jamesjonesesq@AhkofallAhks Celia Cruz being Cuban doesn’t make her not Black. Afro-Cuban literally means Cuban of African descent. Nationality and race aren’t the same thing. She can be Cuban and Black at the same time. And a society’s labels don’t determine a person’s ancestry.
@General_Oluchi She clearly wanted her personal space. If you can’t see that from the body language please don’t have kids. She tried to move away from him and he pulled her back. What more do you need?!
@iamcardib@lovebscott You gotta respect it and leave it on the floor. Someone can’t call me a pussy behind my back and think they still gon have access to me once I find out. That’s why we have to have emotional control and be mindful of our words. Words do hurt ppl.
