FAST MRI Programme

A multicentre multidisciplinary research programme. Could a shorter MRI scan of the breast save lives by finding the most dangerous cancers sooner?

[FAST MRI Programme @FastMri]

📣 Introducing DYAMOND!

Our new study testing whether FAST MRI can detect the breast cancers that mammograms might miss in women aged 50–52.

If you’ve just had your first breast screening mammogram, you may be eligible to take part. 💙

💬 Join our exciting Breast Screening Research Workshop!

In partnership with @CaafiHealth, we’re inviting women aged 49+ from Black African, Caribbean & wider global majority communities to share their views and learn about new breast screening research.

More details below ⬇️

Your opinion counts! Take 5 minutes to give feedback on a new breast screening study in development called EDITH. Public input is essential – don’t miss your chance to make a difference! #breastscreening @ResearchNBT @NIHRtakepart @NIHRresearch @NorthBristolNHS @BustSouthmead

[Sam Harding @samharding]

A project I am affiliated with has been asked by our ethics committee to canvass opinion about the use of health information in the screening service. We would be grateful if you would answer the survey which should only take 10 minutes to complete.

🎗️What is a mammogram?

It’s an X-ray of the breast used in the NHS Breast Screening Programme to help detect #BreastCancer early, often before symptoms appear.

Breast screening saves around 1,300 lives each year in the UK.

🔍 What is a #FASTMRI scan?

It’s an abbreviated breast MRI that takes 3 to 5 minutes to acquire (vs ~20 mins for full MRI). It’s designed to spot aggressive breast cancers irrespective of breast density. It’s safe and painless

💎 Stage 2 of the DYAMOND study involves having the FAST MRI scan.

If your screening mammogram shows average breast density, you may be invited to have a FAST MRI scan. The scan itself takes 3–5 mins, but the whole appointment would last up to 45 mins.
#NHSResearch #BreastCancer

[FAST MRI Programme @FastMri]

💎 The DYAMOND study will test if a FAST MRI scan can detect cancers not seen on mammogram.

In Stage 1, we will use your mammogram images to measure breast density. Eligible women with average breast density will be invited to join Stage 2.
