@QuinnLester Which is to say, the category refers to something about the “author” (quotes bc do I believe in authors? idk). In this way, I don’t see how it’s all that different from “French political thought” or “Roman political thought.”
Now, “American political theory”…never heard of it
@QuinnLester I’ve also been thinking about this, bc I work on several Indigenous thinkers but under the banner of APT. I’ve settled on: “thinkers who identify as American, or address or are otherwise adjacent to the U.S. in a meaningful way.”
@kdcoduto … meanwhile, I have a paper that’s been under review for 15 months and I haven’t seen a single reader report.
I know my effort won’t go on my CV, but I also know that it’s worth doing. I wish more tenured faculty felt the same way.
@kdcoduto I’m an ECR trying to be the change: just spent several days writing a review that balanced encouragement with constructive criticism, because I know how it feels to be on the other side. And I agreed to review the manuscript again…
@AnnaMeierPS Absolutely. At UW -Madison we started a “syllabi incubator” for grads to design their own courses in a collaborative environment and learn more about pedagogy from campus experts. Enthusiastic support from the department, but grads had to jumpstart it. There’s much more to do.

@carolinefraser Was in Mansfield last week and noticed this photograph in the Wilders’ parlor. Do you have any idea as to its provenance and who is pictured? The very helpful tour guide did not know. Thanks for Prairie 🔥s.
@PhilipDBunn The Royal Proclamation of 1763 alongside the Northwest Ordinance, with Adam Dahl’s chapter explaining its significance in Empire of the People.
How many dull hours filled; how many reams of theme music written; how many Blue Apron boxes sold, shipped, eaten, and tossed before Adnan Syed was finally freed? If only our justice system moved as swiftly as our cultural appetites…
