Recently on the @Flagrant2Army I was asked what ‘the best’ or ‘the most accurate” Bible translation is. The answer to that isn’t always as simple as people would like.
Often the conversation is framed with the terms “dynamic” and “formal” equivalence. However, the concept of “dynamic” and “formal” equivalence regarding English Bible translations is somewhat of an over generalization. Translations do in fact fall on this continuum, yet depending on what Testament, book, chapter, or even verse you happen to be reading that may shift. Some of the most “word-for-word” translations may in fact be quite “thought-for-thought” in particular areas due to the reality of the nature of translation.
Any translation is going to have an aspect of interpretation woven in. There is no “perfect” Bible translation out there and if you are willing and able your best bet is always to study and learn the original languages for yourself. You may even have disagreements with this graphic, where you think one translation should be over another – and that’s totally reasonable and only shows the reality of my point. This graphic is not meant to be the last word, but where I have personally found (generally and inadequately) the translations to have fallen on the spectrum.
We have an overabundance of excellent translations of the Christian Scripture in the English language. Arguably there should be no new translations produced as the majority of modern translations cover the bases of the necessity regarding both research and personal devotions needs.
Learn the languages for yourself if you can, otherwise take a multi-translational approach. Although not all translations are created equally, the fact is that it is far more important that you are reading Scripture than what translation of Scripture you are reading (there is the obvious caveat of terrible, heretical, and unnecessary translations of course, but in general the point stands).
Christian apologist Wesley Huff appears on the Flagrant podcast with comedian Andrew Schulz:
"When you stand before the judgment throne you're either going to take the penalty you deserve, or you're going to be covered in the righteousness of Christ and that penalty is on him."
The Theory of Evolution is illogical.
Fundamentally, it is a theory of Origins.
The Origin of eyes
The Origin of brains
The Origin of hearts, livers, lungs.
At one point, none of these organs existed.
But over time, for no reason at all, accidents of chemistry organized thousands of lines of genetic code to engineer these novel organs through chance, natural processes - so the story goes.
But it's not enough to engineer these organs by themselves - all organs rely on a complex network of sophisticated, interdependent systems.
Eyes need light sensing cells, data transfer proteins, data movement paths, data interpretation centers, etc.
Brains need neural nets, nervous systems, cranium housing, etc.
Hearts need muscle tissue, blood, veins, etc.
So these systems of organs must have evolved in a coordinated manner in order to function synergistically together - they wouldn't function without all the parts working together from the start.
The odds against such a feat of engineering are so incomprehensible, I don't believe they've ever been calculated.
The odds of a single protein evolving by chance is 1 in 10^77.
But tens, or hundreds, or even thousands of proteins evolving together in a coordinated manner???
It surpasses the boundaries of logical reasoning.
And this entire theory of Origins is supported by flimsy evidence, like finding mutations that allow humans to drink milk - a gene that always has existed in humans, where the regulator broke.
Or bacteria metabolizing citrate - another gene that always existed, but was adapted to create more, and a regulator broke (again).
Somehow the observed instances of these small adaptive changes we witness in life is enough to convince many that this same adaptive process will produce the entire anatomy of the human body, by accident.
This is a bigger leap than the cow jumping over the moon.
The Evolutionary Theory of Origins is the absolute worst supported theory ever contrived.
A new organ has never been observed to form. Nothing even close.
The evidence of design in life should be obvious to anyone who opens their eyes
But many refuse to see.
Romans 1:20: "For his (God's) invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse."
There is no excuse for denying Creation. It should be plainly obvious to every person.
The Theory of Evolution is an abomination, hiding God's power behind a mess of accidents and philosophical Naturalism.
Praise God, the Creator of all things.
Reject the lie of Evolutionism.

But, if you travel to Christ's grave in Jerusalem, it's empty, & has been for 2,000 years.
"For the conviction of the disciples that they encountered the resurrected Jesus, we have no fewer than nine ancient sources, confirming and corroborating the conviction of the disciples that they encountered the risen Jesus."
@LeeStrobel
I spent 20 years in the New Age—ayahuasca ceremonies, Hindu festivals, psychedelics, tarot readings—before finding Christ.
Now I'm horrified to see those same practices invading the church. Here's what Christians need to know:
Many critics claim there’s no good reason to believe Jesus’ tomb was found empty.
That’s simply false.
Here are 𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 reasons to believe the tomb of Christ WAS empty🧵
Nero: This is the end of Christianity.
Diocletian: This is the end of Christianity.
Julian: This is the end of Christianity.
Umayyad Caliphate: This is the end of Christianity.
Ottoman Empire: This is the end of Christianity.
USSR: This is the end of Christianity.
