Truly a great honour to be able to voice my perspective on stigma attached to #TB at the House of Lords. @UKHouseofLords@UKParliament@nickherbertcbe
When people are willing to learn, listen & change, the energy in the room is refreshing.

Fighting poverty and stigma to defeat TB - Talk at @BritishSciFest in Liverpool alongside Dr Tom Wingfield.
If you told me this would be my life when I first got diagnosed with MDR TB, I would have never believed it.

People who have lived through TB are often included into research studies at the final stage. I believe the impact they can have if they are involved from the beginning, can be huge. They bring first hand experience which is so unique and personal to any research. #tuberculosis
A discussion of how #TB research can address the challenges experienced during treatment & how TB survivors can in the research funded by @wellcometrust#worldtbday#TB
Grateful for the people I have met along the way. A very interesting presentation by @DrTomWingfield discussing the importance of people with lived experiences driving research.
It's #WorldTBDay.
Tuberculosis is caused by a type of bacteria that spread through the air when people with TB cough, sneeze or spit. It mainly affects the lungs, but can also impact other parts of the body.
Seek medical attention if you have symptoms like:
🔸prolonged cough
🔸fever
🔸unexplained weight loss
Early TB treatment can help stop the spread of disease and improve your chances of recovery.
Contact your health provider if you:
🔸show symptoms
🔸are a close contact of a person with TB
🔸are at high risk of getting sick with TB. If you are living with HIV, get tested for TB.

Life is wild.
Not knowing if I would survive #MDR#TB felt like such a setback at the time, to now having so many opportunities open up for me in the TB world.
Doing something I enjoy feels great.
Excited for a future of opportunities to share my TB journey.

6 years today since this Picc Line changed a lot of things for me. This procedure was done in my room, which didn’t feel very safe at the time.
Feeling grateful to be able to post this, many years later. #TB can be beaten. #MDR#TB
#TB patients are still human who deserve conversation, kindness and support. 50 days isolated was a long time, being treated well, would have helped make an already tough situation, easier to get through. @resultsuk@ResultsCda#AMR
Despite being the deadliest infectious disease, TB has not received the global attention or sense of urgency afforded to other epidemics"

Being a #MultiDrugResistant#TB survivor means that my body was resistant to the medication for TB. My body did not respond to the medication. Thankfully, there is medication for drug resistant TB, but so many people are unable to get treated for #AMR.
It’s great that Prince William hosted the @FlemingFund initiative event at St James’s Palace for ministers and doctors from Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.
Many influential and important people who are leading on antimicrobial resistance.

Today’s conference on antimicrobial resistance is all about joining forces to address this urgent global health challenge. It’s so important to continue exchanging ideas, building partnerships, and taking action to confront AMR and protecting public health 🌍💊
