I wrote an op-ed for @nytopinion column about the complexities of balancing free expression and online safety — and how we lose out when we back away from safety measures. Check it out here.

Considering building a tool to support more civil dialogue online in public forums where debate & disagreement are common.
I'd love to see more perspective taking in replies but the character limits of a 'tweet' make this challenging.
Would you use a perspective-taking tool?
It's a pleasure to join the @Harvard@BKCHarvard Applied Social Media Lab for a short-term fellowship diving into how we might reimagine social media in a way that promotes civility, reduces toxicity and fosters more connection. https://t.co/8pRMr4PKWw
After an action packed year on @Twitter’s Trust and Safety team, I’ve left the flock to join @Nextdoor as their new Head of Product for Neighborhood Vitality (Trust & Safety + Constructive Conversations).
I’m super proud of the things my team shipped over the last year — from Mentions controls to symptoms first reporting for customers and a more digestible privacy policy (including a fun interactive video game!). Was an honor to support some mad talented people.
I said to my wife "Do you think anyone will commit suicide because they could not get an abortion?"
She instantly replied "yes."
Then she added "there will be all those boyfriends and husbands that murder them because they couldn't get one too" and that shook my fucking world.
Super Proud of my team! Symptoms-first, user friendly reporting. Glad to see this rolled out globally.

SCOOP: Top antiabortion leaders and GOP lawmakers have been meeting behind the scenes to strategize for a national abortion ban, mobilizing around a proposal that would outlaw the procedure at 6 weeks.
Here’s what I’ve learned about their plans 🧵https://t.co/U58pxdMVAQ
A few months ago, in that blurry haze of new motherhood, I left my infant daughter Eureka on the couch for just a few seconds. She rolled and slipped and tumbled to the floor, hitting her head, then burst out crying. /a thread to #SaveMelissaLucio
