The UN Group of #HumanRights Experts on #Nicaragua condemned, in the strongest terms, the death of prominent indigenous Miskito leader Brooklyn Rivera while in State custody, and expressed deep concern over reports that authorities took control of his remains
Human rights experts: "Under international law, #Nicaragua must conduct an independent investigation into Brooklyn Rivera’s death in custody, ensure a transparent forensic autopsy, return his remains to the family without delay, guarantee accountability."

Perhaps the greatest challenge of our time is not a lack of resources, but a failure to recognize the true value of freedom before it is lost.

What stayed with me wasn't only his resilience, but his conviction that documenting the truth matters—even when justice seems distant. Dictatorships depend on people forgetting.
