This legislative session, two of our member food banks– Feeding South Florida and Treasure Coast Food Bank– had the opportunity to showcase their innovative culinary programs that help neighbors through workforce development. Our food banks do more than feed people -
- they are increasing access to healthy food and creating opportunities for families to become sustainable and successful. We thank the Senate President for including our food bank network in this legislative tradition and hope that more of our state leaders have been impacted.
We were at the Capitol this week meeting with agencies and state leaders. We're all working to expand food access for neighbors in need while supporting Florida Ag- #FarmersFeedingFlorida. Everyone understands the mission- to make sure Floridians have access to healthy food.
Greetings from the Capitol! As we celebrate the opening day of the Florida Legislative Session, we thank our partners and state leaders for helping us to feed Florida.

The Farmers Feeding Florida program is a win for all 🌱💙 Supporting food banks, Florida farmers, and rescuing fresh local food. Check out Bay News 9’s story with Cedar Key Aquaculture and clam farmer Tim Solano showing the impact in action. Together, we’re feeding Florida.
At Feeding Tampa Bay’s market, a partnership with the Feeding Florida Program is bringing clams to its freezers. Feeding Tampa Bay has been supplied with 30,000 pounds of clams so far. That's equal to 25,000 meals. https://t.co/u3AHgXwTmi

This is a powerful example of what’s possible when we work together — supporting farmers, reducing waste, and feeding our neighbors.

Since July 1, the Feeding Florida network has rescued over 169,500 gallons of fresh Florida milk for families across the state. This effort is part of the Farmers Feeding Florida expansion to include more fresh proteins from local producers.

What an honor to visit Dale, Daniel, & Andrea McClellan of M&B Dairy for a tour of their processing facility in Temple Terrace. Mr. McClellan is one of several dairy farmers partnering with us through Farmers Feeding Florida. @jasonbrodeur@WiltonSimpson https://t.co/yCXd3TQ6me
Feeding Tampa Bay's new Causeway Center is an amazing facility and hub for the entire community. They are certainly redefining what it means to feed this region, knowing food alone will not solve hunger. I'm grateful for their partnership with Farmers Feeding Florida. 🇺🇸🍊
Proud to stand alongside Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, Senate President Ben Albritton, and Florida’s incredible agriculture community at the launch of the Farmers Feeding Florida initiative.
This program was passed by the Senate in April and connects Florida’s hardworking farmers directly to our food banks so no fresh food goes to waste, and more families get the nourishment they need.
As Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Agriculture, I’m committed to expanding the infrastructure that links our state’s food producers to those who need it most. We don’t want to see any fresh food go to waste, especially when it could be used by a struggling family or senior.
Under President Albritton’s leadership, the legislature invested $28 million in our FDACS Farmers Feeding Florida initiative. Working with food bank partners like Feeding Florida and Feeding Tampa Bay who purchase food directly from our farmers, ranchers, and producers who then transport and distribute to families who are facing food insecurity. That means Florida’s farmers have a stable market for their products, and families in need get the freshest possible food. In just 45 days, nearly 170,000 gallons of milk — or more than 2.7 million school milk cartons worth — have already been purchased from local dairy farmers and made available to Floridians in need.
