@EvanVanWormer1@JibbletsM86226@Try_Havoc@HeleneStJames He certainly would not choose to sit out, but his motivation to give 100% effort when playing would be completely gone. This could lead to him getting scratched, in which case he’s still paid his full salary
@Skydiazs@Ryken6@frank_seravalli They would be required to pay him. If he plays then he’ll half ass it, and if he’s scratched then he still gets paid regardless.
@canadaNHL@frank_seravalli If they’re doing that, they will lose the locker room, and suddenly you have to trade Debrincat, Kane, Seider, and Raymond too. Yzerman will simply have to trade him to one of these three teams for as good of a return as he can get.
@TheTenSpeed_@NHLRumourReport Overpay. That should be the package to move up to #2, maybe a little more, overpay for #4. Maybe Kyrou, #11, #29, and a third rounder or two
@RippedFuel@bobdudak@andystrickland Hofer was above average, Broberg is very good, Parayko is pretty good. Blues will be no worse than 4th in the division, and could be better than Dallas if they fail to keep Robo
@littles1313@Josh_B23@NHLRumourReport Maybe they wouldn’t. But they have one of the best prospect pools of any team, so they should be more willing to part with them if they are looking to finally be buyers. The blues wouldn’t trade Thomas for much less than that. Maybe just the three prospects.
@Werq_7F@paguytom That will not be enough. They might not even be interested in Kyrou, but if they were, it would be more like Kyrou and picks 11 and 15
@sbrammer97@BluesReactor I think EDM absolutely would consider it. Getting a near 27 y/o elite center, a future 2C, and pick 11 is good value. Probably still short, and other teams could offer more. But if McDavid is traded, it would probably start a rebuild, which means picks&prospects are more likely
@sbrammer97@BluesReactor Thomas has equal or more value than Huberdeau did, Dvorsky and a 1st adds to even greater value than the Tkachuk trade. It’s all contingent on if McDavid actually wants out, and he likely would not have STL as a top choice, but EDM would not have great leverage in this situation.
@sbrammer97@BluesReactor If Thomas is included, that knocks the price down a fair bit. Thomas, Dvorsky, and the 11th overall pick should be enough for McDavid, would not pay anymore.
@Reddit_Heart@HotTakeHockey Dvorsky realistically is that. His game hasn’t transferred to being a real NHL center. And he lead all rookies in power play goals with that Ovechkin-like one timer from the right faceoff circle.
