Two young British girls on a night out, visibly scared.

A bloke notices something isn’t right, walks over and starts asking if they’re okay. He checks whether the men hanging around them are actually WITH them.

The girls say NO.

One of the men is stood outside the club in jogging bottoms. The girls look terrified.

So this stranger refuses to just walk past and mind his own business. He stays with them and tells the men straight:

STOP HARASSING GIRLS.

And afterwards? The girls THANK him for stepping in.

This is what women and girls are dealing with.

A night out. Walking to a mate’s. Going to the shops. Getting home at night. Constantly looking over your shoulder and wondering whether that bloke following you is going to leave you alone.

She comes across as a hater, an aggressor, a racist, and is constantly spitting in the face of the citizenship pledge she took to become Australian. She consistently appears to not represent what it is to be Australian.

Conservative Australians (nor anyone else) are not obligated to silently absorb aggressive, collective racial framing directed at them. That is not a requirement of politeness, democracy, or anti-racism.

Why Senator Faruqi’s rhetoric is problematic:
1. It applies different moral rules by race.
Under the power + prejudice definition she pushes negative generalisations about white Australians and reclassifies it as analysis, while equivalent generalisations about other groups are condemned as racism.

This is not equal treatment. It is a hierarchy of racial speech rights. If collective racial blame is wrong when directed at minorities, it remains wrong when directed at the majority. Exempting one direction on the basis of “power” turns anti-racism into a one-way political weapon rather than a fair and consistent principle.

2. It reduces complex history to a racial morality play.
Australia’s founding involved dispossession, conflict, and injustice — facts that should be acknowledged. Faruqi’s language flattens Australia’s story into a continuous project of white racial domination. It ignores that many early settlers were poor downtrodden convicts, who started in Australia with nothing! She also ignores later migration, democratic reform, the rule of law, and the fact that millions of non-Indigenous Australians have built their lives here under the same institutions she criticises. Treating the majority as a racial class still answerable for 18th- and 19th-century events is collective guilt by ancestry. It is not neutral historical analysis. It is a selective, ideologically driven narrative used to advance a particular political view of Australian society and identity, which is effectively causing division, anger and hate.

3. It undermines shared civic belonging.
When a sitting senator repeatedly tells the country that its majority population’s heritage is rooted in racism and theft, and that their institutions still encode white supremacy, the practical effect is to erode the idea that all citizens stand on equal moral ground. Majority Australians are asked to accept a narrative in which their group identity is permanently suspect, while other identities are framed as inherently more legitimate or oppressed. That is a recipe for resentment, not reconciliation. Social cohesion requires mutual respect, not a permanent racial ledger.

4. It is selectively applied.
Faruqi does not apply the same colonial lens with equal force to every historical conquest or every contemporary ethno-state. The focus remains fixed on white Australian history and power. This selectivity suggests the framework functions less as a universal principle of justice and more as a tool for criticising one particular society and one particular racial category.
If the goal is a society of equal citizens under the same rules, then racial double standards defeat that goal. Treating a vast number of Australians as a target for permanent racial critique while shielding others is not anti-racism; it’s racial politics and does not encourage unity.

It is not neutral historical analysis. It is a selective, ideologically driven narrative used to advance a particular negative political view of Australian society and identity.
