This is SUCH an important conversation to have, but it's true that no one talks about it. Of course not all women in academia want children, but for those who do, the question of fertility represent a silent struggle. Bottom line: YOU CAN HAVE BOTH (YOUR CAREER AND YOUR BABY).
If you’re a PhD student worried about your fertility, but also afraid of the professional consequences of starting a family while in school, I see you. No one seems to talk about this, but I think we should. Please rt to start a dialogue. 1/

So. A (male) publicist was trying to book a (male) colleague and I for podcast. We gave availability but didn't get confirmation. The publicist informed us with hours notice that we were on today.

Sometimes I feel bad about always complaining about men harassing #womeninstem online, but then I realise I wouldn’t have to if men would just stop harassing women in stem online 🙃
NO. When boys outperform girls it has generally been seen as just the normal way of things, and whenever girls outperform boys media use words like 'fear.'
.@Twitter has allowed white supremacists to run rampant on its platform — putting the lives of people of color, immigrants, religious minorities, LGBTQIA+ people and women in danger. Tell @jack to #StopRacistTwitter! https://t.co/n6pCS6dcrd
In the meantime, tenured faculty - especially tenured white men - should explain this stuff to our students before each evaluation season. Help them understand why evals matter to peoples' careers, & how implicit bias affects the results. They'll listen. 8/8 - end.
