Tuesday brings severe storms to Lexington. The main threat is straight-line winds with hail, tornadoes, & possible flash flooding. Have multiple ways to get weather alerts. Put away any loose outdoor furniture or lawn décor. Stay weather aware as these storms head to Lexington!

Dangerous heat is expected across Mississippi today (7/20/2026) through Wednesday (7/22/26).

🥵 Heat indices could reach 110° to 115° in the Mississippi Delta, and heat indices could reach up to 110° throughout the rest of the state. Prolonged time outdoors could quickly lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

💧 Drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks if you're outside.
🏠 Move to air conditioning whenever possible.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

MEMA is closely monitoring Tropical Depression Two. It is expected to become a tropical storm later today.

We encourage citizens to monitor the progress of this storm system as it is expected to impact Mississippi in the coming days.

Areas of flash flooding are possible through Friday along the Gulf Coast and in southern Mississippi.

Disaster Service Centers are OPEN for survivors of the May 6-7 severe storms and tornadoes in Mississippi.
If your home or property was impacted, you can visit one of six Disaster Service Centers to:
✅ Get help with your FEMA application
✅ Learn about available state and local resources
✅ Speak with U.S. Small Business Administration representatives about disaster loans

• Lamar County
• Lawrence County
• Lincoln County (2 locations)
• Wilkinson

🕗 Hours:
Monday–Friday: 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m.–2 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

❗DISASTER SERVICE CENTERS OPEN❗Disaster Service Centers in five counties are open, ready to serve residents impacted by the May 6th-7th severe storms. The centers allow residents to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists from MEMA, FEMA and SBA. The Disaster Service Centers will be open Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm, and Saturday, 8:00am – 2:00pm.
