Today our sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was released after a wrongful imprisonment at Gwailor Fort. His compassion shone brightly as, upon his release, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji not only secured his freedom but also negotiated the release of 52 princes who were also imprisoned.

Facing Emperor Jahangir's challenging condition, Guru Ji had a special chola crafted with 52 panels, symbolizing each imprisoned prince. Their freedom was contingent upon holding onto this unique garment as they walked through the prison gates, giving rise to the name Bandi (prison) Chorr (liberator) Divas (day).

As we reflect on this significant day, let's draw inspiration from Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji's actions. Bandi Chorr Divas calls us to stand against injustice and advocate for the rights and freedoms of others. In the spirit of Guru Ji's teachings, let's unite in supporting those who fight for freedom, justice, and basic civil rights.
