When I was involved in the (cringe) New Atheist movement, I didn't realize that I was doing a critical theory of religion. The motivated reasoning is simple: find a way to blame religion for everything less than perfect in society, no matter how dumb the thing or bad the argument.

This is what I see now with people going after Trump, Jews, and Israel all the time. Those three things in particular.

Anything bad in society, even if it isn't even a real bad thing but just kind of a made up one, gets some goofball argument that somehow blames Trump, Jews, or Israel.

It's just "New Atheism" all over again but like way more pathetic and low-IQ.
