Talking about a true goosebumps moment .. on august 20, 1977 long before GCI, James Burke presenting the BBC series "Connections" pulled off a true masterpieces of timing and self control. Just imagine how it must have felt for that entire filming crew .. hearing and feeling the roar of those mighty rocket engines, knowing you just made tv history. For those who are now wondering why he mentioned Moscow and Peking as a possible destinations .. we were still in the full hot part of the Cold War era.

* It was filmed at Cape Canaveral, Florida, for the BBC Connections episode “Eat, Drink and Be Merry.” Recording date was August 20, 1977, even though the episode aired in 1978.

*The rocket lifting off in the background was a Titan IIIE/Centaur, succesfully launching the now iconic Voyager 2 from Cape Canaveral, Launch Complex 41, Florida USA.

*James made an actual wrong statement when referring to the Saturn V's used fuel. It used liquid oxygen (LOX) at −160 °C and RP-1 (refined petroleum), a type of kerosene (not the mentioned hydrogen). And to be entirely correct and complete, at the Voyager 2 launch, the Titan IIIE/Centaur rocket used hypergolic propellants in the Titan core, solid propellant in the boosters, and LH₂/LOX in the Centaur upper stage.
