Protect the Honour and Respect of the Hon'ble Supreme Court

It is deeply concerning that the Churachandpur District Bar Association has issued a statement threatening Supreme Court judges visiting the district. The statement declaring that "Lordship (of the Supreme Court) belonging to the Meetei community... shall not step into our district" is not only disrespectful but also a direct challenge to the authority of the Supreme Court.

Such actions, which threaten judges on official visits, whether on the direction of the Hon'ble Supreme Court or as part of a scheduled visit, are unacceptable. The Bar Association’s statement undermines the respect and dignity that the highest court of the country commands and it is crucial that such behaviour is condemned.

We urge the Hon'ble Supreme Court @indSupremeCourt to take immediate and appropriate action against the Churachandpur District Bar Association for this blatant defiance of its authority. It is imperative that the Supreme Court demonstrates that such conduct will not be tolerated, to preserve the integrity of the judiciary.

If no action is taken, the very respect and honour of the Supreme Court could be at risk. Moreover, if the judges visiting Manipur give in to such intimidation - relevant video clipping attached below for ready reference - it could severely compromise the dignity of the Supreme Court.

The judges of the Hon'ble Supreme Court have a clear responsibility to protect the honour and respect of the institution. It is essential that decisive steps are taken to ensure that such challenges to the judiciary are addressed, so the integrity of the Supreme Court remains intact and its authority upheld.
