How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?

Prayer for Mercy:
Merciful Father, on this Mercy Tuesday, I come to You with the things I honestly do not know how to handle anymore. Some situations have gone beyond my strength, my plans, and what I can do for myself, and like David, I find myself asking, “How long, O Lord?”
You know what I need even before I find the words to ask. You know where I need Your intervention and the things that keep me awake at night.
Father, by Your mercy, step into my situation. In Your providence, make a way for me. Send help from unexpected places, put the right people on my path, and provide what I cannot provide for myself.
I may not know how things will work out, but I know I am not alone. You have carried me before, and I trust You to carry me again.

I declare: I am not defeated, I am just getting started in Jesus name.

Today in London, I continued consultations centered on Nigeria's future with some shareholders.

Our conversations centered on economic partnerships, strengthening institutional frameworks, and unlocking potential locked within Nigeria's vibrant youth demographic.

A recurring theme in all my discussions was the urgent necessity of transforming Nigeria from a consumer economy into a productive economy. This structural shift relies entirely on intentional investments in human capital—specifically health, education, and enterprise. We must forge a society where merit, integrity, and competence are celebrated and rewarded, leaving behind the era of nepotism and compromise.

While our current challenges are profound, they pale in comparison to the boundless resilience and determination of our people.

Let's begin to give dignity to human lives in our land.

The death of 37 persons in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Minna, Niger State, is a deeply troubling tragedy that demands urgent answers. These were persons who had been arrested as suspects. Whatever offence they were suspected of committing, they were still human beings, and the responsibility of the State was to keep them alive, safe, and treated humanely while due process took its course.

It is particularly disturbing that so many people could die within a place of detention in such a short period. While investigations are ongoing into the actual cause of these deaths, including reports concerning disease, overcrowding, and inadequate ventilation, Nigerians deserve a transparent, independent, and credible investigation that establishes exactly what happened.

This tragedy also reminds us that security is not merely about arresting people. Security is about protecting lives, upholding the dignity of every citizen, and ensuring that the institutions entrusted with our safety operate within the law.

A nation cannot claim to value human life when people can enter government custody alive and emerge dead without immediate, transparent, and credible accountability.

I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and urge the authorities to ensure that justice is done. Nigeria must become a country where the rule of law protects every citizen, not only those who are free but also those who are in custody.

May God grant the families the strength to bear this painful loss. -PO

A New Nigeria Across Borders: My Visit to Italy

As part of my ongoing visits to several countries in continuation of my consultations, meetings, and constructive exchanges of ideas on national rebirth, I arrived in Italy this morning.

I had the privilege of engaging with key stakeholders and leaders. We held fruitful discussions on economic collaboration, institutional development, and matters critical to Nigeria’s progress, with a particular focus on the immense potential of our vast youthful population.

During these various meetings, I reiterated our core conviction to move Nigeria from consumption to production through sustained investments in education, healthcare, and enterprise development. We must build a functional society where young people are given genuine opportunities to prosper. A nation that values its talent must reward competence, character, and integrity over criminality, connections, and nepotism.

Though our national obstacles are immense, the collective capacity and resilience of our people are infinitely greater.

Leaving Italy tonight, I remain encouraged by the ideas shared and the collective determination of both the international community and our citizens everywhere to see Nigeria work for everyone.

This debate about Chinese traders selling directly to Nigerians products that used to be imported and sold by Nigerian traders is not happening by accident.

I don’t know how to tie everything together yet, but a few things keep coming to mind:

- The gradual destruction of Igbo-dominated businesses.

- Iyaloja’s interest and growing stake in market ownership and control.

- Foreign traders being allowed to bypass Nigerian importers and compete directly with local retailers.

When I say everybody should care about politics, this is exactly what I mean!

Politics is not just about elections. It affects who controls the markets, who receives protection and whose source of livelihood is allowed to disappear.

Saddening Killings in Benue State Continue Unabated.

There are moments when words fail because no words can fully express the pain of losing innocent lives to violence. I have just received distressing reports of the latest attack in Ayilamo, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, where innocent citizens and security personnel have reportedly been killed. My heart goes out to the families who have once again been forced to bury their loved ones, and to the entire people of Logo. I share in your pain.

Only days ago, I travelled to Benue to stand with families devastated by violence in Yelwata. Even in that moment of grief, when all that should have mattered was humanity, my attempt to reach the affected community was disrupted. Yet that experience has only strengthened my conviction that we must never become indifferent to the suffering of our people.

Whether the victim is a farmer, a child, a police officer, a soldier, a Christian, a Muslim, or a person of any ethnic group, every Nigerian life has equal value. We must stop counting our dead and start protecting our living.

I call on the Federal Government and all security agencies to urgently act, bring the perpetrators to justice, and, most importantly, prevent these recurring attacks. Nigeria cannot continue on this path.

My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. May God comfort them, receive the souls of the departed, and give our nation the wisdom and courage to confront this evil decisively.

A nation that cannot protect the lives of its citizens has a duty to ask itself some very difficult questions. We must do better. We must secure Nigeria.

65 FREE SURGERIES FOR 65 CHILDREN

Yesterday, I attended the final follow-up clinic and appreciation programme at Mother Mary Hospital, Isolo, Lagos, following the successful completion of 65 free surgeries for children to mark my 65th birthday.

I am deeply grateful to God Almighty for guiding the medical team throughout the process and for granting all 65 children safe and successful surgeries.

The surgeries, led by Dr Folaseye Adebayo and her dedicated team, included adenotonsillectomy. This procedure removes enlarged or chronically infected tonsils and adenoids, which can cause breathing difficulties, recurrent infections, and sleep-related problems in children.

What made the occasion particularly touching was listening to parents share their testimonies and hearing how these procedures have improved their children’s health and quality of life.

My profound appreciation goes to @DrFolaseye Adebayo and her entire team, the hospital management, the parents, and everyone who contributed to making this initiative possible.

For me, birthdays are not merely occasions for celebration. They are opportunities to give back, touch lives, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

I thank God for the privilege of being part of this initiative and, most importantly, for the gift of 65 healthy and hopeful children.

May God continue to bless all those who dedicate their lives to saving and improving the lives of others.
