Thanks in part to the tireless efforts of the FRSA committee and support from the general public, our campaign to keep 8 On-Call fire stations open has been successful, as today, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Authority voted to keep 8 on-call stations open, conditional on receiving additional precept flexibility in the 2027/28 financial year.

While we welcome the Service's appetite for modernisation, something we’ve long been championing, we would invite them to meet with stakeholders so that future changes can be formulated in collaboration rather than imposed.

In addition, over the next 8 months, we will continue to lobby all relevant parties - locally and nationally - to help secure a fairer funding model for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
