This is truly nothing new. Amero was discussed and planned a couple decades ago. But like then it is still a very complicated convergence and rebalancing of debt, purchasing power, trade rules and release of rules, Canadian provinces would have to reorganize a lot of things. It’s worth study, worth determining how to do it and is in the balanced interest of both countries and peoples.

The biggest challenge is what the alignment and conversion would look like. It’s a deep issue for all financial institutions and corporations. A lot has to be really figured out and if it can be a smooth transition before this would fly. Thankfully the EU have us an example of what and what not to do. EU had a lot of painful months and years getting it all aligned. One advantage we have is just two economies unless the provinces get into it with all the fine details. It would take some serious and deep planning.
