@NYGovCuomo This is a great idea. But NOT at the expense of our green space and parks. I’m an essential worker and I completely disagree with the location!! We need all the green space this city has to offer. #pausethesaws
Well said @FiDiResidents! #PauseTheSaws to allow community input regarding placement/planning. Honor essential workers without paving over greenspace and bulldozing massive old trees. And kids can’t play on a concrete monument w/ an eternal flame. @NYGovCuomo@BrianKavanaghNY
When one takes bad land and turns it into a beautiful memorial, then that is dedication. When vane politicians take perfectly tranquil lawn space and turn that into a memorial, that is purely wasteful insanity. #PauseTheSaws#SaveRockefellerPark
The "Circle of Heroes" monument in NYC will open this Labor Day, honoring the essential workers who carried us through this pandemic.
It will be a permanent tribute to their heroism & service.
These workers have *always* been essential & we are eternally grateful.
@NYGovCuomo When one takes bad land and turns it into a beautiful memorial, then that is dedication. When vane politicians take perfectly tranquil lawn space, cut down heathy trees and turn that into a memorial, that is purely wasteful insanity. #PauseTheSaws#SaveRockefellerPark#NYC
@NYGovCuomo As an ER physician I agree with honoring all essential workers, but reconsider this plan. Open green space has been essential during the pandemic for NY’ers. I don’t want green space sacrificed in our honor. #PauseTheSaws
Thank you to everyone who prevented the demolition teams from starting to remove trees. These are healthy, beautiful, alive trees that are being removed for a concrete monument the community was never consulted about. It’s heartbreaking. #PauseTheSaws#SaveRockefellerPark
New York’s essential workers deserve our honor and respect—and we can commemorate them with a memorial. But bulldozing vital open space in lower Manhattan isn’t the way to do it. @NYGovCuomo needs to #PauseTheSaws and consult with the community on location and design.
Monument for essential workers is a great idea, but the location is very misguided. @NYGovCuomo, why bulldoze a beautiful lawn and cut down healthy trees to replace them with a concrete monument? Please, consider a different location. #PauseTheSaws#SaveRockefellerPark
Today we sent a letter to @NYGovCuomo urging him to halt construction on this monument until a proper community engagement process has been followed. Residents have real concerns about the placement and the expedited construction following the Governor’s Wednesday announcement.
@shsatsunset And likewise, a student who fails to make the cut in an athletic tryout does NOT measure a 12yro's entire athletic merit. I demand equality on basketball teams!
Asian-Americans students are very dedicated to education! Specialized high schools are the only high schools in the state based on meritocracy. Why take away from deserving students who worked hard? Why not create more similar schools? https://t.co/a4iiol1Xb5
