The woman doesn't care - she's dead. @CWhittaker_MP needs to focus on helping people his Govt have screwed over the last decade and stop being a divisive dick.
@toryboypierce Maybe direct your anger at those in Govt for the last few years who have created the environment whereby people feel they have no option but to strike.
If you'd done your job in holding the Govt to account, maybe we wouldn't have got to this position.
@simon_culling@withorpe If deemed to be in the public interest, there is no need to compensate shareholders, as happened when the Govt took over Northern Bank.
@simon_culling@withorpe No reservoirs have been built since privatisation, despite a growing need for better water supply. Profits given to shareholders should have been spent on infrastructure. Scottish Water is still public. They have the lowest leaks, lowest prices, and lowest mgt costs.
@simon_culling@withorpe 1) the price can be lower - no shareholders to fund.
2) run it as a not-for-profit, reinvest surpluses into a chronically underfunded infrastructure.
2) the tax would be used to fund other public services.
Compare public sector Scottish Water v private English ones.
