@FrancoisValeri3, Chair of @anticorruption, kicked off day 2 of our International Collective Action Conference in Basel with a powerful speech emphasising the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration and the inclusion of civil society.

To catalyse the power of Collective Action to combat corrupt systems and power networks, we need to get better at:

✅ Reaching out to all companies –> including key players like the financial sector and state-owned enterprises.
✅ Getting to the right people within a company –> the leaders and decision makers, as well as compliance and risk management professionals.
✅ Achieving ethical transformation within a company –> so that ethical principles are instilled within all processes and staff, and in the relationships between the companies and their external stakeholders.

The Outstanding Achievement award has been renamed the Gretta Fenner Outstanding Achievement Award in memory of our late Managing Director, who did so much to promote anti-corruption Collective Action and to support fantastic initiatives such as these.

Niels Wohlwend, Chief Compliance Officer at the Basel Insitute on Governance, delivered an insightful presentation on "Managing Third-Party Ethics & Compliance Risks." Key takeaways from his session include:

It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of our Managing Director, Gretta Fenner. Gretta's unwavering commitment to combating corruption has left an indelible mark.

Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones. We will miss her immensely.

It is with great sadness that we confirm the tragic death of our Managing Director Gretta Fenner in a car accident.

Gretta has been an extraordinary force for change in the fight against corruption – both personally and through the Institute that she lovingly and passionately built and led for so many years. We, and our partners and counterparts around the world, will miss her greatly.

Her family and friends are in our thoughts as we come to terms with this news. We will keep all informed about plans to honour her memory and celebrate her as she deserves.
