Introducing our new TIL Cell Therapy Journey: A Step-by-Step Guide for Melanoma Patients
We're proud to share this new resource to help patients understand every stage of Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocyte (TIL) Cell Therapy, an FDA-approved treatment option for people who have been previously treated for advanced melanoma. This roadmap offers clear guidance on what to expect, from your first conversation with your care team to follow-up after treatment.
Designed to empower patients and caregivers, the TIL Therapy roadmap outlines:
• What TIL therapy is and how doctors determine if it is right for you
• How your tumor sample is collected for TIL cell growth • What happens during the manufacturing and treatment phases
• Commonly reported side effects you and your care team can prepare for
• What follow-up care looks like and how long recovery may take

This week’s @US_FDA acceptance announcement of the resubmission of the Biologics License Application (BLA) for RPI gives hope to the many stage 4 #melanoma patients and their families that a new therapeutic option may become available soon and underscores the unmet medical need in patients with advanced melanoma who have progressed after PD 1 therapies—patients for whom established treatment options are limited.

As we continue to navigate the current federal government shutdown, the MRF remains committed to ensuring the melanoma community feels informed and empowered when exploring all options following a diagnosis — including access to clinical trials.
While some federally funded clinical trials are temporarily paused, not all trial sites will be impacted uniformly. If you are currently enrolled in a federally funded or oversight clinical trial (e.g., @NIH /@NCICancerCtrl run or sponsored trial), you will still be able to participate.
There is no impact to privately funded clinical trials and the MRF encourages the melanoma community to continue seeking clinical trial opportunities using our Clinical Trial Navigator — an easy-to-use tool that helps identify trials tailored to your diagnosis, ensuring access to the most up-to-date care options available.

I am so proud of leading the #Neoadjuvant NADINA phase 3 clinical trial (with Dutch colleague Prof Blank from @NKI_nl) and with the support of my amazing colleagues at @MelanomaAus.
Today, this #immunotherapy regimen (ipilimumab+nivolumab) is listed on PBS for ALL AUSSIES with clinically detected stage III melanoma because of this work.
Great for #melanoma and sets a benchmark for all #cancer.
We can cure cancer - we will get there.
I want to #cure the ‘third space’ - those not responding to standard immunotherapies, and still dying of melanoma and cancer.
Melanoma is the perfect model to understand this and make a difference.

Just submitted the final manuscript for Terminal Hope — from LA, where it all began.
Where I met Dr. Ribas.
Where stage IV melanoma met science.
Where hope took hold.
