Very disturbing. Hate has no place in our democracy. We need more diversity in politics, including more Filipinx-Canadians in office, to turn the tide against hatred, discrimination, and systemic racism in our communities. https://t.co/QLMVQdWXoE

Congratulations and salamat to @PIDCtoronto for organizing the 1st #Mabuhay Philippines Festival gala in over 2 years - it was a special night to celebrate our culture and reconnect with #kababayan and kaibigan, including the 1st Filipina Canadian in Parliament! 🇵🇭 🇨🇦 #cdnpoli
Her main priorities were affordable housing, working further on reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, and expanding universal healthcare to include dental, vision, and prescription medicine.
Her goal was to bring a youthful perspective to the Parliament. Her experience as a volunteer and student gave her a unique and closer perspective on many issues.
After graduating from university, Stéphanie volunteered at a non-governmental organization in Mexico called "La Paz Comienza Con Los Niños" (Peace Begins with Children). This experience furthered her desire to give back to her community in Montreal.
We turn our spotlight this week on Stéphanie Valenzuela, candidate for councillor in Côte-Des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-De-Grâce. Stéphanie is a first-generation Filipino-Canadian.
Stéphanie received her degree in Political Sciences and International Development from McGill University. She used her education to be more involved in her community.
Last night @OMNIFilipino, we got a chance to know more about how #Filipino-Canadian parliamentary staffers work. @jibrilhussein@kylefox_ and Jerica Mariano also discussed the importance of representation in parliament and Canadian politics.

THIS is why diversity in politics is incredibly important.
Jibril, Jerica, Kyle, Christiana and Ellen, are amazing at what they do. They're an inspiration to Filipino-Canadians, & Canadians everywhere.
