Halo Olgeta from New York!
Regional Leadership at the Global Stage! The high level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Aseembly commences today in New York with the commemoration of thirty years of the Beijing Platform for Action.
I welcome that the @CIJ_ICJ has just made it very clear: all States are obligated under international law to protect the global climate system.
This is victory for planet, for climate justice, and for the power of young people leading the way.

What a privilege to be tired from work you once begged the universe for. what a privilege to feel overwhelmed by growth you used to dream about. what a privilege to be challenged by a life you created on purpose. what a privilege to outgrow things you used to settle for.

These words from Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara at the inaugural South Pacific Forum (now known as the Pacific Islands Forum) in 1971 continue to resonate powerfully today.
As the region engages in the Review of the Regional Architecture (RRA), we are reminded that Pacific regionalism was never just about structures, it was about solidarity, service, and self-determination.
Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara spoke of a vision anchored in the will of Pacific peoples, one that laid the foundation for a regional system rooted in respect, dialogue, and mutual support. That precedent of working together to solve shared challenges, is still what binds us.
The RRA is not just a review. It is an opportunity to reimagine how we cooperate in a changing world, and to ensure our institutions remain fit for purpose, grounded in Pacific values, and led by Pacific voices.

Fiji’s Permanent Representative, H.E Ambassador Filipo Tarakinikini, weighed in on the zero draft of the Financing for Development #FfD4 outcome document, emphasizing the urgent need for a global solution rooted in international solidarity on the road to Seville, Spain.
Key Highlights from Fiji’s statement:
1️. Shift to “aid on budget,” with 50% of development assistance locally led by 2030;
2️. Clear timelines to achieve the 0.7% ODA target, restoring trust in the multilateral system through transparency;
3️. Ambitious climate finance beyond USD 300 billion, safeguarding the 1.5°C goal;
4️. Debt suspension triggered by climate shocks, enabling vulnerable economies to rebuild;
